• ask_user_question and request_user_input accept an optional required: true for a question that gates an action (an approval before an irreversible step). If such a question times out, is dismissed, is lost in a restart, or cannot be shown, the model is told not to take that action and to end the turn, instead of being told to continue on its best judgment. Questions without the flag behave as before (#2949).

• The engine no longer starts turns on its own without bound. After one user message, automatic turns (stream-rule nudges, goal continuations and any other extension follow-up) pause after 150, or as soon as 12 automatic turns within a minute did no work (called no tool); each stream rule sends at most one correction per message. When it pauses, the session says so, and any message you send continues right away. Both numbers are settings (engineTurns.maxPerUserInput, engineTurns.maxToolFreePerMinute; 0 turns one off). One message had produced 66 turns, and another 93 requests in 3 s, until Stop (#2967).

• A provider or route that sets its own anthropic-beta header no longer drops the betas a request needs: the configured betas are merged with them. Claude Haiku, Opus and Sonnet 5.5 through such a route no longer fail the first call with 400 messages.1.output_config: Extra inputs are not permitted, and a request with server-side fallbacks keeps its fallback beta. anthropic-beta: null now sends a request that needs no beta (current tool list, top-level effort, no fallbacks) instead of an invalid one (#2957).
