What is Maplat?
Maplat is a map application/platform that uses historical maps and illustrated maps (maps that would not normally be used for navigation) while displaying GPS positions and switching to accurate maps — all without distorting the original map images. While commercial products with similar capabilities exist, Maplat was the world's first open-source product of this kind.
Additional world-firsts:
- A web app that achieves bidirectional consistency for both direction and scale
- Real-time transform between accurate maps and historical maps, including transparent overlay — not just switching
