Build verification

The release workflow verified the upstream stable base and reconstructed the integration tree from the archived patches. All five release-target builds and packaging jobs succeeded before publication; SHA256SUMS covers the five assets. Windows packaging includes the app-local ConPTY runtime and checks binary version identity.

Install / update

Download the asset matching your OS and architecture, plus SHA256SUMS, from this release. Before running it, compare its SHA-256 hash with the matching entry in SHA256SUMS: use sha256sum FILE on Linux, shasum -a 256 FILE on macOS, or Get-FileHash FILE -Algorithm SHA256 on Windows (replace FILE with the downloaded filename).

On Linux/macOS, make the downloaded binary executable with chmod +x FILE, rename it to herdr, and place it in a directory on your PATH, such as ~/.local/bin.

On Windows, extract the entire ZIP and keep the bundled conpty directory next to herdr.exe. Do not copy only the executable.

To update, stop your existing Herdr processes before replacing the installation with a newer personal release. Do not use the upstream Herdr updater: it may replace the patched binary with an official build. Cargo/binary version remains 0.9.5; the Codefriendly release tag identifies the fork revision.
