Kiln 1.4.1
Added
- Rebuild a saved design in one step.
rebuild_designre-runs a design's
saved build recipe: parametric designs re-derive from their OpenSCAD source
and parameters, imported models re-slice their saved parts. It replaces
smart_redesign, which is retired.
Changed
-
Previews look like the real thing on every computer. Preview images now
use the same studio look as the web app — print bed, lighting, shadow. That
used to need a browser on your machine; it's built in now. -
Running several printers at once is a Kiln Business feature, and that now
properly applies to every printer command.hand_back_printermoves Kiln
between machines without touching a running print. -
When Kiln asks you to update, it says what you'd get. Update prompts
used to give you the version number and nothing else. Now they name two or
three of the things the new release adds, so you can decide whether it's
worth doing right now instead of taking it on faith.
Fixed
-
Slicing for a Bambu now names the file to upload. It produced two
files and pointed at the one Bambu printers can't start from, so the
upload was refused a few steps later. Kiln now names the right one. -
Designs and slices no longer fail at random on macOS. OpenSCAD and
PrusaSlicer sometimes crash on startup, before reading your model. Kiln
retries instead of failing. -
Preview renders no longer take over your desktop on macOS. They could pop
up a keychain dialog for Chrome — a browser you never opened — and bounce a
second Chrome icon into your Dock. Neither happens now. -
A logo with a see-through background now carves just the mark. Kiln was
reading the empty space around the artwork as solid ink, so it cut the logo's
whole rectangle into the part as a sunken frame. White logos came out blank.
Now fixed.
