Vietype 0.2 beta 4

This prerelease focuses on faster typing, less idle work and shortcut editing
inside Vietype. It remains a beta for Ubuntu GNOME Wayland.

Changes

• Change shortcuts in a native Vietype dialog instead of opening GNOME Settings.
  Save validates known conflicts, checks the active session response and persists
  only Vietype's settings; Cancel leaves them unchanged.
• Remove the 100 ms UI and shortcut polling loops. Run the practice timer only
  during an active exercise.
• Avoid full Telex replay for already-literal words and temporary allocations
  during nucleus matching.
• Keep the top-bar menu, in-app mode controls and shortcut-driven mode changes
  synchronized. Include the pending background-permission and stale-focus fixes.

Before / after

In five alternating-order local benchmark pairs, median core time per key fell
43.0% for Vietnamese, 43.2% for English, and 40.6% for the Backspace workload.
All benchmark checksums and the 64,000-key differential comparison matched.
An isolated 15-second idle UI run fell from 299 main-thread context switches to
zero; RAM stayed around 138–140 MiB and did not improve.

These are core and isolated UI measurements, not end-to-end Wayland latency or
a promise for every machine. See the method and raw data.

Install or upgrade

Quit the running Vietype instance completely before upgrading, then install the
attached package:

sudo apt install ./vietype_0.2.0.beta4_amd64.deb

Reopen Vietype afterward. Installation does not alter input sources or autostart.
Use the attached SHA256SUMS to verify the downloaded package.

Validation and limits

Rust tests, formatting, clippy, real-libibus private-bus regression tests, the
private shortcut backend/native GTK tests, and rootless package lifecycle checks
are part of this release's validation. These do not establish live keyboard
routing in every application or clean-VM dependency resolution.

In-app rebinding currently requires the supported GNOME settings schema; other
schema layouts report an in-app error. GNOME still handles global-key permission
and registration. Shell-extension shortcut conflicts may require choosing a
different combination. Live new-key activation and restart checks remain in the
manual test matrix.

trọng về cùng một màn hình.

• Trang Tổng quan mới cho phép chỉnh trực tiếp tùy chọn thường dùng, cài đặt
  nâng cao và phím tắt toàn hệ thống.
• Ba phím tắt GNOME mới để đổi ngôn ngữ tiếp theo/trước đó và chuẩn bị chuyển
  kiểu gõ; ứng dụng hiển thị đúng tổ hợp đang được GNOME cấp.
• Biểu tượng VI/EN trên top bar: nhấp để đổi Việt/Anh, nhấp phải để mở cửa sổ.
• Luyện gõ cập nhật ký tự Telex đang soạn theo từng phím, không còn chờ Space
  hoặc hết từ.
• Giao diện Tổng quan có phân nhóm, mô tả, trạng thái và khả năng cuộn tốt hơn ở
  cửa sổ nhỏ; các control mới có tên trợ năng.
• Nút Đổi phím tắt dùng hộp cấu hình portal trên phiên bản mới và mở thẳng
  trang Phím tắt của GNOME trên portal v1.

Đây vẫn là beta dành cho Ubuntu GNOME Wayland; các desktop Linux khác chưa được

Beta 3 adds editable Overview settings, GNOME global shortcuts, a VI/EN top-bar
toggle, per-key Telex feedback in typing practice, and refreshed accessible UI
states. The shortcut editor uses the portal configuration API when available
and opens GNOME Keyboard Shortcuts on version 1 portals.

Download the amd64 .deb below and read the
English guide.
Vietype remains a beta for Ubuntu GNOME Wayland; other Linux desktops are not
officially supported yet.

The first Linux beta for Ubuntu GNOME Wayland includes native Rust Telex input,
safe input-source recovery, direct typing practice, abbreviations and a local
diagnostic capture workflow. Install the amd64 .deb and read the
English guide. Other Linux desktops are not yet supported.
