Zero 0.5.1 adds support for MIT-licensed Zero Community catalogs while keeping ordinary Java, the minimal VS Code sidebar, and core 0.1.1.

Download zero-bootstrap.zip for the complete local kit, zero-starter.zip for just the starter, or zero-0.5.1.vsix for the extension. Setup guide: https://zero.codepet.ca/learn

Release preparation now checks configuration, 90 extension/starter tests, seven finite JavaFX examples, the website, archive contents, licenses and checksums before producing review artifacts. Community component archives remain local and experimental.

Verified on macOS with extracted-kit installation, Run App/Stop, quiz behavior and component add/update/revert. Linux CI uses a virtual display. Physical Windows/Linux setup and student GitHub sign-in/upload remain untested.

Zero 0.5.0 is an experimental local Java teaching kit with a minimal VS Code sidebar and a small JavaFX API.

Download zero-bootstrap.zip, extract it once and follow START-HERE.md. The archive includes the ready-to-open starter, Zero VSIX, optional profile and setup guide. The starter and VSIX are also available separately. Students need VS Code and a supported JDK17+; Git2.31+ and native GitHub authentication are needed for uploads. Node.js and global Maven are not student requirements.

Run App rebuilds/restarts. Upload, Start and Finish default to simulation; students own their repositories and submit repository links separately in Pika. Original Zero code is MIT licensed, with the notice in every main download; Apache Maven wrapper notices remain separate.

The optional community archive and public Maven components are not released. Physical Windows/Linux and final native editor interactions remain untested. The unchanged background canvas-focus smoke limitation is recorded in docs/VERIFICATION.md; seven finite native examples and extracted starter compilation passed.
