CLS Editor Features
CLS supports vessel design in the SPH/VAB. You can view the spaces in a vessel during design, to allow ensuring that you have built your vessels with the desired living spaces in mind.

In addition, you can view the part's CLS configuration in the tool section via a Right Mouse Button click. RMB reveals additional info on a part, and CLS provides info here. If a part does not contain a CLS Module, no details will be shown in the RMB section, as shown above. If a part does contain a CLS module, then it wiil appear as shown below. The parameters are described in the following section.

RMB parameters
The parameters shown are described below:

  • Crewable: This parameter tell you if a part can contain crew and supports Xfers in and out of the part.
  • Passable: This parameter tells you if a part can support kerbal moving thru the part.
  • Impassable Nodes: This parameter tells you if there are any nodes that do NOT support passing thru the part. Works in conjunction with Passable = Yes.
  • Passable Nodes: This parameter tells you if there are any nodes that support Passing thru the part. Works in conjunction with Passable = No.
  • Pass when Surface Attached: This parameter tells you if this part is passable when it is attached (radially) to another part.
  • Surface Attached Parts Pass: This parameter tells you if this part attached radially to this part is passable.

Part Tweakables
Finally, you can alter a part's configuration when you add it to your vessel. There are tweakables that allow you to alter the passability of the part as desired for this particular part/vessel. These settings override the Part's default settings and can be saved with the vessel. They cannot be altered in flight.

Realism impact of Part Tweakables
Please bear in mind that adding radial attachments, or making additional nodes passable can alter the "balance" of a part, and will usually diminish the realism of it. Consider that adding an opening is a structural change to a part and usually means more weight, a reduction of crew capacity, a reduction of equipment (science), resources, or any combination of these factors, and simply cannot be simulated by CLS.

If mod developers have included Module manager configs with their mod, then they determined what is considered proper balance for a given part. So with that caveat, use at your own discretion or desire. It IS your game after all. :)

The tweakables are described as follows:

  • CLS Passable: Yes/No. This button enables or disable passability of this part in the vessel.
  • CLS Surface Attachable: Yes/No. This buttons enables or disables passability when the part is attached radially to another part. This is the same Parameter as "Pass when Surface Attached" in the RMB details above.
  • CLS Attachable Surface: Yes/No. This buttons enables or disables passability when another part is attached radially to this part. This is the same parameter as "Surface Attached Parts Pass" in the RMB details above.
