Saving an edited document now creates and opens a separately named copy without overwriting the original or earlier copies. SSH Save copy and SSH file or folder uploads require Linux or macOS shell access; macOS also needs Python 3 to verify effective ACLs before writing private data. SSH Save copy rejects shared directories where another account could replace the new revision. SSH uploads now stage privately before atomic publication and reject unsafe selected-path symlinks on Unix or remote staging that cannot publish atomically. Markdown Preview's Refresh checks current remote contents, including same-second changes. Local and remote File Explorer browsing now reject oversized directory listings rather than showing partial results, while SSH response frames are bounded. Local and SSH file previews now use a private cache directory and files. Local-shell output now needs your approval before writing to the clipboard, including output relayed from a nested SSH session. Clipboard paste errors appear as dismissible, temporary notifications rather than blocking terminal input. In-flight pastes cannot cross to a newly reconnected session. File Explorer file rows provide full-width open and download click targets.

Function-key input

F1–F12 now reach the active terminal when Kitty keyboard mode is not enabled. Shift, Alt, Control, and Command combinations use the corresponding legacy modifier sequences.

Even pane sizes

Adding or closing a split pane evenly divides the remaining panes in the same direction. Split groups in the other direction keep their adjusted sizes.

Move a pane into a tab

Drag a split pane by the handle at the left of its header onto the top tab bar to move the whole pane into a new tab, including its terminal tabs and open documents.

RedTerm Desktop 1.7.23 reduces terminal memory use and unnecessary drawing work.

Lower terminal memory use

Plain blank cells now share immutable storage, reducing memory use in terminal history with shorter lines or empty rows. Text, selections, colors, and image placement are preserved.

Smaller session snapshots

Session snapshots capture terminal text once and use a compact storage format, reducing duplicate memory and serialization work. Existing saved snapshots remain readable, with terminal modes, Unicode text, hyperlinks, and pending control sequences preserved.

Less unnecessary drawing

Text-only terminals skip image-placement searches when there are no virtual image placements. Cursor blinking no longer requests redraws when the cursor cannot be shown. Ordinary spaces skip text drawing while retaining their backgrounds, underlines, and strikethroughs.

Reliable restored formatting

Fixes an error when ANSI formatting changes arrive after restoring a saved terminal. Incomplete image or control sequences that cannot resume are reset without discarding otherwise valid saved text.

More reliable mouse and keyboard input

Interrupted mouse gestures are now released when a window or tab loses focus, preventing stuck dragging after returning. Clicking after a desktop text selection returns to normal typing. Window focus restoration respects other text fields and inactive terminals.

Keep background SSH output current

Desktop SSH sessions now continue processing output while the app is hidden. This prevents earlier output, including image-removal commands, from being lost when the limited replay history fills, and avoids delaying terminal query replies until the window returns. Hidden terminal drawing remains suspended.
