Red Editor v0.8.2
Red v0.8.2: Update Red from your editor or terminal
Red v0.8.2 adds a managed updater for official standalone installations. Daily checks notify you about new stable releases; you choose when to install them.
Highlights
- New: Update from the editor or terminal. Run
red update,:update, or Update Red in the command palette for an official standalone installation. The updater verifies the release checksum and candidate binary before replacement. Restart your editing sessions to use the new version. - New: Hear about new releases without unattended installs. Red checks for a newer stable release once per day and notifies you. Set
[updates] mode = "off"to disable automatic checks; manual updates remain available.

Updating existing installations
Red checks for a new stable release daily and only notifies you. Run red update, :update, or Update Red to install it, then restart your editing sessions. Set [updates] mode = "off" to disable automatic checks while keeping manual updates available.
If red update reports an unmanaged installation, or you installed Red before v0.8.2 or extracted an archive manually, save and close Red, including detached sessions, and rerun this release's installer once into your existing installation directory. It writes the receipt and lock file required for managed updates. Use the installer assets attached to this release for this migration.
