0.8.29
Release Notes
Fixes a false alarm I shipped in 0.8.27 and then told the whole fleet to go looking for.

The hub-identity warning no longer fires for registry entries whose directory is gone.
hub_key
treated "this directory does not exist" exactly like "the root sha is unreadable" — falling back
to a URL-derived key and announcing an identity fork. So a perfectly healthy machine with a few
stale watch-registry targets emitted the warning repeatedly, in wording that claims this run's
cursor, inbox, watch lock and preferences are affected. On one machineconfer doctorprinted it
16 times, all phantoms. As Pipeline put it: "the warning is true of the phantom and false of me, and a reader cannot tell
which from the text." Nothing is using a namespace for a clone that does not exist, so there is
nothing to warn about; a missing directory now falls back silently. Stale targets already have
their own nudge (confer autoheal prune, deliberately manual and human-verified).A genuine fork — a clone that exists but cannot resolve its root — still warns exactly as before.
That is the point: a warning that fires on phantoms is one nobody reads on the day it is real.
Reported independently within minutes by studio, binnacle-macos and studio-markup, each of whom
ran the diagnosis before applying a remedy and declined to act on an ambiguous instruction.
