TurboGrafx CD
PC Engine CD / TurboGrafx-CD games run on the Beetle PCE Fast core (libretro mednafen_pce_fast). Disc images load from .cue + .bin pairs or .chd archives — both go through the same identification and emulation pipeline.
CHD-format TG-CD games identify and unlock achievements via the same libchdr-backed cdreader as the rest of the CD-based platforms. See RetroAchievements for the integration overview and the CHD format quirks section there for the layout-level findings (track alignment, pregap detection, MODE1 vs MODE1_RAW geometry) that made cross-format reliability work.
Quick gotcha specific to TG-CD: many older or obscure titles are in RA's database but have no authored achievement sets. The detail card will read "No achievements authored for this game yet" — that's the correct status, not a fetch error. The game identified fine; RA's set authors simply haven't built a set for it.
A PCE-CD BIOS file is required in your system folder. Any one of syscard1.pce, syscard2.pce, or syscard3.pce is sufficient (Syscard 3 is the latest and runs the broadest catalog).
Multi-track CHDs and .cue + .bin both work. Auto-detection in the CHD bridge handles both chdman storage conventions (pregap-in-storage and pregap-virtual) — no manual conversion required.
CHD identification validated across the catalog as of v1.6.9, covering both single- and multi-track titles, with and without RA-authored sets.
