@coffeebowl coffeebowl released this 04 Oct 20:33

What's new

  • Project files: keep files of any kind with a project. (53f1786)
  • Previews of text files, PDFs and LibreOffice documents. (f13131c)
  • Workdays: choose your workdays in the preferences. The week chart shares the target hours among them, and vacation, sick days and public holidays take their share off. (50dc68f, 2ebe881)
  • Deleting a day: the new day menu deletes a logged day. (82ed166)
  • Heatmap: the heatmap in the reports fits the chosen period and colors its days by project. (1395ffd)

Changes

  • Working time is now the sum of the blocks. The start and end of work are gone from the day view and from bitlog set. Loose work such as e-mails goes into blocks of filler. A work field in older day files is kept but no longer counted. (1e9f3c8)

Improvements

  • Tasks can also be edited in the day view. New tasks are added with Enter or the apply button. (33cb162)
  • Tasks move like projects: drag the whole row with the mouse, or on touch screens use the handle or a long press. A mark shows where they will go. (70a5939)
  • You can choose a repository right when you add a project. (5243a41)
  • Blocks without a title show their project's name in italics. (6d4d5c0)
  • The project timeline loads 10 blocks at a time. (bd7371a)
  • Typing in long notes is smoother, previews of unchanged files are not read again, and loading a vault looks for sync conflict copies only where they can be. (4813c7e, f9cd1e3, 00cf17c)
  • Tidying up under the hood (c103c24 … 967a5a0)

Fixes

  • The project dialog no longer says that an ID cannot be changed. It now points to bitlog project rename. (2f8c112)

Install

Download bitlog-26.10.1.flatpak and install it with your system's software app, or run:

What's new

  • New name: Knotbook is now BitLog, with a new logo and a home at bitlog.dev. (ddcf9a3)
  • Notes page: the notes of all projects on one page. (ca1516e, 8843af9)
  • Mermaid diagrams: code blocks in Mermaid are drawn as diagrams. (6df4434)
  • Git page: choose the branch it shows, see how it stands against its upstream and what is not committed yet. New commits show up by themselves. (3e7cd42, a2be149, 2739348)
  • Commit details show the diff and the tags of a commit. (ea2d0aa)
  • Standup lists your own commits of the day. (6e44c0c)
  • Renaming project IDs: bitlog project rename changes a project's ID in all days and notes. (ae87b1a)

Improvements

  • Today's timeline marks the current time. (4a62830)
  • The block panel can be resized at its edge and remembers its width. (df76d0e)
  • Enter or a click beside the editor finishes editing a block or the day note. (285ab83)
  • Wrapped lines of list items line up with their text. (90f036a)
  • The project dialog tells you right away when an ID is taken. (ae87b1a)
  • The placeholders of the day and block notes mention that headings stay plain text. (f31801b)

  • Renaming a note updates the links in your day files and reloads the day view. (64f2eeb, 1d8d40e)
  • The CLI is sturdier and simpler. (5776270)
  • The Flatpak is built in release mode: faster, and the bundle is smaller. (b1717bd)

Fixes

  • Editing a project or the vault settings no longer overwrites changes made elsewhere in the meantime. (9b844de)
  • Note templates must lie inside the vault. (f5d3089)
  • Reading files no longer makes the vault reload again and again. (a548a2e)
  • On a tall project page, the timeline stays right below the notes. (72873b0)

Under the hood, a lot of duplicated code was removed and shared between the app and core. (913b6ac, b633b83, adc58a7, a38e707, 39098ff, 96d53da, 09b6523, db18774, ddd95ad, 9bd9309)
