Namzu Desktop 0.2.1 (preview)
Pre-releaseNamzu Desktop 0.2.1 — preview for Windows
The desktop app for working with AI agents: projects, conversations, Pals with their own computer, and the Namzu terminal agent bundled in.
If you already have Namzu Desktop installed, it updates itself to this version — no need to download again.
Download (new install): Namzu-Setup-0.2.1.exe below (about 506 MB). Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit Intel or AMD.
SHA-256: fbdb7b790ffedccee2c370c3cd030670989ef5e5181e9d5c266c8e8eb0e0aa31
To check it in PowerShell: Get-FileHash .\Namzu-Setup-0.2.1.exe
What's new since 0.2.0
- A Pal now answers on the model you chose for it: the conversation follows the Pal's current model instead of the one it opened with, and the first message no longer pins the model shown.
- The left icon rail shows Spaces, Scheduled and Plugins as in progress — they do not open yet and return when that work lands.
- The menu bar reads like an app, not a browser: the View menu drops Reload, Force Reload and the developer tools, keeping zoom and full screen.
- The bundled terminal agent is now 36.1.1.
- A reliability fix for free-model access.
This preview is not code-signed
Windows warns you before it runs. That is expected for this preview.
- "Windows protected your PC": choose More info, then Run anyway.
- "Open File – Security Warning" with "Unknown Publisher": choose Run.
Installing
- Installs for your user only. No administrator rights are needed. Adds Desktop and Start menu shortcuts.
- Takes a minute or two; the app opens by itself when it finishes.
- To start chatting, connect a model provider: paste an API key, or sign in with Claude Code or Codex and Namzu finds that sign-in.
Pal computers
A Pal can have its own Linux computer, which runs on Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL). Chatting with a Pal works without a computer.
Updates
Namzu checks for new versions and installs them for you. You can change this in Settings ▸ Updates.
Uninstalling
Use Settings ▸ Apps ▸ Namzu. This removes the app and its shortcuts, and keeps your data: %APPDATA%\Namzu (app settings) and .namzu in your user folder (conversations, Pals, projects).
