dsh-bot-board 0.7.3
- Fix: a session that starts with no Bots no longer crashes the panel. Body returned the no-Bot board from the middle of the component, above the
runRef/runOverflowhook pair, so the first render of a session (no rows yet — the first poll has not answered) claimed three hook slots and the first render carrying data claimed five. React refused that with "Rendered more hooks than during the previous render" and unmounted the subtree, which the error boundary turned into a pill — and since unmounting throws away the poll state, every 15s retry walked empty -> data -> crash again, so the pill was permanent and its "reload to recover" was false. The early return now sits below every hook, where it belongs. - The render check gains the assertion that would have caught this: it reads the hook count across the empty -> data -> empty -> data sequence and reports 3 vs 5 on the previous commit.
- The error pill now says the boundary is retrying, which is what it actually does.
dsh-bot-board 0.7.2
- The package is on npm: add
dsh-bot-boardto your profile'spackage.jsonand install there, no clone needed. - Every URL points at the new account name.
dsh-bot-board 0.7.1
- README rewritten for outside readers: what the board is, the install steps for npm and for source, and the "where the data comes from" table.
- Private examples and placeholder bylines dropped.
- Badge placement and the legend wording fixed.
dsh-bot-board 0.7.0
- The idle line becomes a roster: one 44px row per resting Bot with its face, name and role, reflowing to two or three columns on a smaller panel, so no Bot is ever behind a scroll.
- Fields read from
state.jsonare sanitized: a drifted or mistyped value degrades to an empty value instead of crashing the panel, and the panel says so when the data version does not match. - System notices are cleaned up — error text no longer copied verbatim where it could land on a lock screen.
- Adds the smoke and render suites, including a hook-count check across the empty -> data -> empty sequence a real session walks.
dsh-bot-board 0.6.0
First tagged release: the board as it stands at open-source readiness.
What it does:
- Three bands, ordered by whether you have to do anything: Needs you (approvals, questions, a failed turn), Moving (the classroom floor, with hand-off edges above the grid), Idle (a line of names).
- Six states carried by shape as well as colour: needs-you is a square, stuck is a diamond, the rest are circles, and every lamp has an outline. Green and red sit 13.6 ΔE apart, so shape does the work for red-green colour blindness.
- The seven DS Bot character outlines, redrawn — whale, bull, blossom and the rest — with the 19 ink values from DS Bot's
inks.js. Whatever a Bot has not picked itself is hashed from its id: 12 colours x 7 outlines x 10 desk props, stable across refreshes, upstream always wins. - Reads DS Bot's
api/botstate (1.5s while anything runs, 6s after 90 idle minutes) andstate.jsonfor hand-offs (5s, cached on mtime+size). Polling slows down when the panel is collapsed, the window is hidden, or requests keep failing. - Keyboard access and lamp meaning; the chip that expands an overflowed waiting list in place; panel drag, resize and collapse, all remembered in localStorage.
Built against DS Bot 0.1.7 / 0.2.0 and a DSH developer preview build. Node >= 20 to build from source.
