Wavepod 0.2.0
Read any podcast, ask it anything. Open-source on your Mac, completely free
Wavepod turns any podcast episode into a transcript with every speaker named. It writes a summary you can click and
answers your questions with quotes. Transcription runs on your Mac, and your audio never leaves it.
This release makes Wavepod faster to get around, easier to read, and gives you more control over your library.
What's new
Get around faster
- Back and Forward. Swipe two fingers on the trackpad, use the new ‹ › arrows in the toolbar, or the side buttons
on your mouse. - Click the player to open its episode. The player bar takes you to what's playing.
- Media keys. The play/pause key on your keyboard and headphones controls Wavepod, not Apple Music.
- Podcasts you can fold. Click a podcast's header to hide or show its episodes, and choose to see the last 1, 5
or 10. Wavepod remembers this for each podcast.
Easier to read
- Cleaner summaries. Summary points no longer show a timestamp. Click a point to hear the moment it comes from.
The time shows when you hover over it. - Show notes with formatting. About now shows headings in bold, links you can click, and timestamps that play
from that moment. - New menus. Choosing where answers run, or which episode to open, shows a preview of each choice: where it
runs, whether it leaves your Mac, and how fast it is. - Quieter buttons and smoother motion across notices, the player and Settings.
Your library, your call
- Delete an episode from its ⋯ menu.
- Erase all data in Settings › Data and Privacy to start again from zero.
- Network log. Settings › Data and Privacy shows the 50 newest requests. Download All… saves the full list as
a CSV file.
Under the hood
- Summaries written in the background now use the model you chose in Settings › Ask.
- A summary that arrives while you ask a question no longer cancels your answer.
- Updates to an episode from different places no longer overwrite each other.
- Clearer names: Add Audio File replaces "Open Audio".
Install
- Download Wavepod.dmg below. (Wavepod-0.2.0.dmg is the same file.)
- Open it and drag Wavepod to Applications.
- Open Wavepod. If macOS says it can't verify the app, click Done, open System Settings › Privacy & Security,
scroll down and click Open Anyway. You do this once. This is a test build that Apple hasn't checked
(notarized) yet.
This test build doesn't update itself. When a new version is out, download it and replace the app in Applications.
You need a Mac with Apple Silicon (M1 or later), macOS 15 or later, and about 4 GB of free disk space for the
models.
Thanks
Wavepod is free and open source under Apache-2.0. If it's useful to you, a ⭐ on the repository helps other people
find it. Found a bug? Open an issue.
