The first tagged release of const's quizzes: an always-on, worldwide trivia broadcast at https://consts-quizzes.web.app. One Round runs at a time, anyone can drop in mid-Round, and signing in is optional.
The game
- One global Round of 10 Questions, ramping easy → hard, with a random Theme per Round and an Intermission announcing the next one.
- Each Question: read 3s, answer 10s against a draining points meter (1000 → 100), reveal 3s.
- Live, all-time and Bot Leaderboards; generated Handles; link Google, Apple or X to keep your scores.
- Headless play for Bots via API keys (
/llms.txt). - The Reaper clears out inactive anonymous Players; a seat cap and a kill switch guard the budget.
- All pacing, points and limits are live-editable in
config/app.
In this release
- Fixed the game going offline. Every heartbeat started a new chain of Tick tasks that never ended, so ticks piled up to ~20 a second, overspent the budget and tripped the kill switch. Tasks are now deduplicated by the instant they fire. Idle running cost drops from ~$74/month to roughly $0–1.
- Rounds are 10 Questions (was 20), with less waiting between Questions.
- A loading screen in the show's style. You're let in only once you're signed in and seated, the clock is synced, the fonts are loaded and the live Round has arrived.
- A static, one-screen layout. Nothing moves when a Question has 2 Choices instead of 4, a Choice wraps, a refusal message appears, or the Intermission takes over. Short windows shrink to fit instead of scrolling.
- The Player page opens from the right, under its button.
- Countdowns never show 0. They hold on 1 until the server moves on.
- No "+N" score pop for an Answer the server refused.
- Deploys refuse a web build that's missing its assets, and browsers revalidate the app's files so a deploy never mixes versions.
