This release contains multiple WineD3D builds for Windows 9x, intended primarily for use and testing with QEMU-3dfx.

WineD3D versions

Included builds:

Older builds

  • 1.9.7
  • 2.0.5
  • 3.0.5
  • 3.1.4
  • 4.12.1
  • 5.0.5
  • 6.0.4
  • 7.0.2

Newer / experimental QEMU-3dfx builds

  • 9.0
  • 9.12
  • 10.0
  • 11.0
  • 11.6

Newer does not necessarily mean better.

For older games and QEMU-3dfx, different WineD3D versions may have different compatibility characteristics. If a game already works correctly with an older WineD3D version, there is usually no reason to replace it with a newer one.

The newer 9.x, 10.x and 11.x builds are mainly provided for testing games that do not work correctly with older versions, or that benefit from functionality introduced in newer WineD3D releases.

QEMU-3dfx configuration

All packages include a wrapgl32.ext configuration file.

For WineD3D 1.9.7 through 7.0.2:

ContextVsyncOff,1

For WineD3D 9.0 through 11.6:

BufOAccelEN,1
ContextVsyncOff,1

BufOAccelEN,1 is strongly recommended when using WineD3D 9.x, 10.x and 11.x with QEMU-3dfx.

These newer versions are currently more experimental with QEMU-3dfx. In my testing, they have generally behaved better on a Windows host using WHPX than on a Linux host using KVM.

If an older WineD3D version works correctly with a particular game, I recommend continuing to use that version.

Fork of wine9x wined3d that works with qemu-3dfx. For some games you will gain speed (fps) if you disable UseGLSL in Windows registry. This version of Wined3d has been tested on Windows 98SE, Windows 2000 and Windows XP
