Spaced Linux 10.26.6 improves theme switching, installation restart reliability and file moves.
- Reliable theme changes: protects Compiz window-decoration pixmaps during theme changes, fixing a race reproduced in VirtualBox.
- Restart after installation: a resident input handler can restart into the installed system after the live medium is removed, even when the live filesystem and Xorg are no longer available.
- Caja file moves: preserves a new filename chosen in the conflict dialog when moving between filesystems, using a merged upstream fix.
- Application theming: passes the theme environment into desktop sessions so Qt and LibreOffice applications follow the selected theme.
- Desktop improvements: adds Change Theme to the desktop context menu, clearer theme names, a prominent xkill cursor, refined firepaint defaults, a shortcut-opening helper and GDebi.
- Hardware compatibility: prevents the GPU Driver Manager from selecting an NVIDIA driver newer than branch 580 for Pascal/GTX 10-series cards. Physical hardware coverage remains incomplete.
- Smaller images: uses 1 MiB squashfs blocks and the x86 BCJ filter. Includes the Samba network-ready fix previously delivered in 10.26.5-3.
The ISO and signed APT repository provide 10.26.6-1 Spaced packages, Caja 1.26.4-3+spaced10.26.6, Compiz 2:0.8.18-9+spaced10.26.6, and wallpaper catalog 2026.10-2.
Validation passed: 244 unit tests, two GTK runtime tests, release identity upgrade checks, and final ISO smoke tests in KVM and VirtualBox with both BIOS and UEFI. All 13 themes passed in each VM configuration (52 preset checks). Screenshots and reports are included in the validation archive.

See the changelog and release review for details and remaining validation limits. SMB checksum and GVfs tests used another Spaced Linux system; actual Windows-client testing and affected physical GPU testing remain outstanding.
