Second release of Crimpdeq Platform, a printed frame that turns the Crimpdeq v2 force sensor into an isometric finger and hand dynamometer.

Changes since v0.1.0

  • Bolted frame: the two frame halves are joined by bolted half-lap joints (M5 screws and nyloc nuts) instead of glue and pegs, so the wrist rest can slide on before the frame is closed. The printed stand-in hardware is gone: the build needs steel hardware and machined load-cell inserts.
  • Wider finger pocket: the pocket is 80 × 20 mm and 25 mm deep, and the frame is 124 mm wide to match. Ledges under the grip's side walls stop it from tipping.
  • Pocket stoppers: two drop-in stoppers, 5 and 10 mm thick, give 20, 15 and 10 mm edges. You lift them out by built-in pull tabs, and they store in a well in the frame.
  • Wrist rest: the palm bolster rises 20 mm above the heel deck.
  • Phone slot at the left end of the frame.
  • Ready-made Bambu Studio project: crimpdeq-platform.3mf has the three print plates laid out with the recommended print settings, for a Bambu Lab A1 with a 0.4 mm nozzle and PETG. Select your printer and filament, then do the slicer checks in the book.

Files

  • STL files for the left and right frame halves, the grip, the wrist rest and the stoppers
  • crimpdeq-platform.3mf, the Bambu Studio project

Don't mix parts from v0.1.0 with this version.

The build and assembly guide is in the book.

Warning

Not load-tested. The frame and its bolted joint are only screened analytically. Check fit and comfort, and never load the sensor above its 50 kg rating.

First release of Crimpdeq Platform, a printed frame that turns the Crimpdeq v2 force sensor into an isometric finger and hand dynamometer.

This release is the fit prototype, meant for checking fit and comfort. The STL files for every printed part are attached below. The build and assembly guide is in the book.
