cppreference C++ documentation for Qt Help - v2026.10.12
The first archive built from a copy of the website taken after its April 2026
upgrade. Everything up to and including v2025.12.01 was built from the
2025-02-09 snapshot — the upgrade broke the scripts that take the copy, and
until now there was nothing newer to build from.
What's new
Twenty months of documentation. 7033 pages against 6638, 413 of them new.
Most of what arrived is C++26 and what comes after it:
- Reflection — 209 pages under
std::meta:members_of,substitute,
define_aggregate,reflect_constant,annotations_of, splice specifiers,
and the type traits restated overstd::meta::info. - Contracts —
pre,post,contract_assert,<contracts>,
contract_violationand the evaluation semantics. - Containers and memory —
std::hive,std::indirect,std::polymorphic. - Language —
template for, constevalblocks, annotations,#embed. - Numerics — saturating arithmetic (renamed upstream to
saturating_add
and friends), checked arithmeticckd_add/ckd_sub/ckd_mul, bit
manipulation (bit_reverse,bit_compress,bit_expand,bit_repeat),
shlandshr. - Ranges and execution —
cache_latest_view,as_input_view,
approximately_sized_range,reserve_hint,run_loop,bulk,
inplace_stop_token. - And a C++29 page, to start filling in.
Every figure is in the archive — 102 of them, including the plots of the
math functions, which no earlier archive carried: the pass that strips the
"About this image" badge beside a figure was taking the figure with it. The
bitmap plots are carried at all three sizes the site offers, so they stay sharp
on a HiDPI display.
Lighter pages. The site now inlines the New Relic agent into the head of
every page it serves, 80 kB of it, which is most of what a page weighs. It is
stripped along with the analytics tags: the raw copy of the site is 985 MB and
the processed archive 432 MB. The .qch is 37 MB against 33.5 MB for
v2025.12.01, for 395 more pages.
Fonts. The site stopped serving the DejaVu faces it names in its
stylesheet, so the rules pointing at them are dropped and the font stacks fall
back on the faces you have installed. Nothing changes in the viewers, which
never loaded a font off a stylesheet to begin with.
The Qt Help rendering is the one introduced in v2025.12.01 — the site's own
markup and stylesheet, a dark scheme that follows your editor's theme, and
diagrams that answer to it.
What it took to get here
The site moved to MediaWiki 1.43 on 17 April 2026: the wiki out of /w/, the
loader and the skin out of /mwiki/, the uploaded images to a path of their
own, a stylesheet cut to measure for each page — and the page name no longer
handed to mw.config.set, which is what emptied the index and the table of
contents without the build saying a word. The scripts follow the site now;
they are in PR #53
upstream, answering
issue #51.
Requirements
This needs a litehtml-based help viewer — Qt Creator 4.11+ or Qt
Assistant 6.2+. Older viewers use QTextBrowser, which does not follow a
linked stylesheet, so the pages will render unstyled there.
Installing
Download qch-book-20261012.tar.xz (or .zip) and unpack it to get
cppreference-doc-en-cpp.qch, then:
- Qt Creator — Preferences → Help → Documentation → Add…
- Qt Assistant — Preferences → Documentation → Add…
A note on the content
The pages are built from the 2026-10-12 copy of en.cppreference.com. The
version number is the date of that copy. cppreference-doc-20261012.tar.xz is
the source package and carries the raw copy itself, which is what the build
runs on; it is there so that the archive can be rebuilt without crawling the
site again.
