What's new

  • Voice messages: record, review and send a voice note directly in shared channels and DMs on desktop or web. There is no separate attachment step, and your typed draft stays intact.
  • A dedicated voice player: play/pause, seek through recordings, change playback speed, and download the original audio. Playback starts on the first Play click, and only one voice note plays at a time.
  • Clearer microphone consent: an in-app first-use flow on Windows, with clearer permission errors and cancellation. Windows privacy settings and existing blocked permissions remain respected.
  • Safer recording and retries: stop or discard locally before sending, follow upload progress, and retry failed sends without losing the recording. Recorded WebM duration is repaired so playback and seeking work correctly.
  • Cleaner navigation: opening Hermes Tasks collapses the navigation panel first.

Microphone tip

TheChat currently uses your system's default microphone. If a recording is silent, check that Windows has selected your physical microphone rather than a Steam/Krisp/other virtual input, and check its mute and input level.

Built from main at 58dfeb4964441e8537857042fc572b10a8a36d8c. Web, API and worker artifacts use the same source revision. No database migration changes are included.
