unfortunately, i formatted my SSD with the safe.

my data is encrypted in the cloud. i download it and create the same folder structure as in the cloud.

for some reason i have 2 times a d directory in it. one can be opened the other not. alelrdings comes the error message. everything is copied 1 to 1 just not yet synchronized with the desktop uploader of the cloud

my system ist windows 10 22h2 and with cryptomator i made a WinFsp. Cryptomator Version 1.12.4.

I hope there is a way to recovery. these are all my documents etc. no backup from these.

looks like after a sync start all files are back. the sync has to finish (that could take some hours) but it looks fine

The issue is caused by pending synchronizing process by a cloud app like Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive, WPS cloud when you put the cryptomator vault into a cloud synchronizing space. When the synchronizing process finishes, the issue will be gone. See below for details.

I have encountered the same issue. Even worse, when I found all the files in the vault missing, I moved a new folder into it!

But with the help of AI, I have found the way out and successfully recovered all my files in the vault. Here is the steps:

1. First, lock the vault and logout; stop synchronizing of the whole cloud app (for example, WPS cloud);
2. Log on to the cloud space (for example WPS cloud disk), find the vault folder, export the whole folder to a new location OUTSIDE of WPS synchronizing space.
3. Open Cryptomator again. Locate the above folder where you just exported from the cloud and input password to unlock the vault. You will find all your precious files back! Wow!

Lesson:
Never put the vault folder DIRECTLY into a cloud synchronizing space. The synchronizing issues will always get you troubles.

The correct way:

1. Just create all vaults OUTSIDE any synchronizing space on your local harddisk partition （for exapmle, E partition).
2. In the cloud app, set all vaults folders as synchronizing folders.
3. That's it, done!

Does this imply, on-demand virtual files are a problem? Would it also work to use "allways keep offline" as workaround or is it too risky? I just had a similar issue with a Nextcloud-Client and was pretty shocked, how easily a sync error can break the vault. Interesting that this seems to be a problem for propritary Clouds like Dropbox, OneDrive etc. too as you describe it. I never read about this requirement as you describe it before, a warning from Cryptomator would be nice...
