Release list
0.1.4.1736
Powerups and build progression
- Twelve powerups now have independent levels from 1 to 10. Selecting one again improves its real combat effect; level 10 removes it from future offers.
- Damage, speed, range or duration grow at each level, with quantity milestones at levels 4, 7 and 10.
- Level-up choices and intermediate boss rewards offer compatible powerups alongside attribute options. Boss victories use an Epic Reward screen.
- The HUD shows acquired powerup icons and levels. Hover to inspect the current effect and next upgrade.
- Active skills, passives and their rank upgrades now come only from chests. A nonempty common chest is guaranteed in the starting clearing; other procedural event rolls are preserved.
- Developer skill arena: F7 toggles powerups; F5 cycles enabled powerup levels along with skill ranks.
Validation
All 120 powerup levels, the twelve level-one effects, chest progression across 100 seeds and packaged startup passed through the standalone executable. Source regressions also cover skill ranks, reactive skills, build selection, boss progression and normal-AI boss arena parity. Full human balance testing remains pending.
Windows
Download the Windows ZIP, extract all files, and run PixelSurvivor.exe. Keep PixelSurvivor.pck beside the executable. The game works offline. Existing installations can use the in-game update notification.
0.1.4.1510
Changes
- Reworked all eight boss encounters with shorter player-targeted leaps, rushes and chained movement, readable light-blue/white warnings, and melee attack pauses.
- Added dedicated boss attack animations, taller leap arcs and landing splashes. Reduced the fourth boss size and rebalanced later boss damage.
- Increased mage spell pressure and added spine volleys, circular attacks and expanding orbiting bone hammers.
- Added ranged enemies, expanded skill progression to ten ranks, and increased monster spawn frequency.
- Redesigned 30 sound effects with variations, separate combat cues, voice priorities and output limiting.
Windows download
Download the Windows ZIP, extract all files and launch PixelSurvivor.exe. Keep PixelSurvivor.pck beside the executable. No Godot installation is required.
The standalone startup, audio bank, boss movement, attack animation, damage and arena parity checks passed. Full-run balance is still being tuned in this development release.
0.1.2.0915
0.1.2.0915
Development release for Windows x64, using Godot 4.6.3.
Gameplay
- Active and passive skills now support ranks 1–10, with explicit before/after upgrade feedback. Projectile counts, penetration, chain targets, reach, area, damage, cooldown, healing, and protection improve according to the skill family. Fireball fires 1/3/6 shots at ranks 1/5/10.
- Self-centered circular attacks keep a ready cooldown until an enemy enters their damage area. Defensive skills react to real nonfatal received hits instead of casting from proximity alone.
- Boss pursuit is 38% faster than the previous published baseline (+15%, followed by another +20%). Charge/lunge speed is 598 pixels per second, and marked charge impact area is doubled. Ground warnings are subtler.
- Frost Nova starts with a 157.5-pixel radius and grows evenly to 173.25 pixels at rank 10, before area bonuses.
- Chests are 50% larger, with matching clearings and click areas. All tiers open through interaction. Chest breaking is not planned.
Visuals and developer tools
- Added combat sprites for the Archer and Warrior, matching the Mage's small pixel grid. Corrected Warrior weapon/shield hand continuity and compact attack poses.
- Reworked Stomp, Dagger Dance, and Warrior cone effects to avoid giant stretched sprites. Dagger Dance uses brighter individual blades, with fewer visual blades at low ranks; visual count does not alter damage.
- Selection menus use the pixelated Pixel Operator Bold font at native 16/32-pixel sizes, with larger upgrade statistics and readable headings. The existing HUD font is preserved. Pixel Operator is distributed under CC0 with its license included.
- Local source includes a fullscreen skill debug launcher with all three heroes, all eight skills, rank selection, solo mode, and repeat casting. Skill/rank changes preserve position. The arena uses an isolated profile and is excluded from the normal game package.
Validation and limits
Focused tests cover all active casts at every rank, passive progression, automatic targeting, reactive defenses, boss movement/charges, chest clearings, upgrade caps, and debug controls. Rendered previews were inspected. Package startup is checked separately from the source tree.
The updater flow test now uses the current four-field version format. The Windows installer helper is tested with isolated files; full end-user update behavior and extended human balance/performance playtests remain distinct from those automated checks. Equipment, storage, and extraction remain disabled. Warrior shield skills, shrine variants, and Hall quests remain future work.
