ctx 2.2.0 adds opt-in backup and sharing for your agent history.

  • Export and restore portable history archives. Back them up with a tool such as restic for encrypted local or S3-compatible storage.
  • Run your own ctx server, invite teammates, and share selected sessions with collection permissions and revocable access.
  • Search shared history from the CLI or MCP. Selected uploads can wait offline and retry through an enabled daemon or ctx remote sync.
  • Custom CTX_DATA_ROOT installations keep their managed history state isolated.

Hosted history is beta. Installing or upgrading does not start a server or enable uploads. Keep matching client and server versions during beta, and checkpoint before server upgrades. Server storage and exported archives need encrypted storage or a backup tool if you require encryption at rest.
