Release list
v0.06
A launcher before the game, the car window graphics fixed, and two pause menu fixes.
New
- Launcher: after a warning screen, Play and Options come before the game, with the game's own menu sounds.
Options sets the resolution (720p, 1080p or the original 4:3) and the game threads, and saves them tosh3.ini.
Fixed
- Large triangles drawn over the car windows in the cutscene after the Missionary fight
(#6, by Ligux01). - Pause menu: the black box behind it is gone, so the game stays visible behind the menu text.
- Pause menu: Save and Load stayed greyed out when the game was paused during a fade-in (back from the save
screen, after a load or a door).
Everything else is as in v0.05.
Known issues
- The FMVs are skipped.
- After the cutscene in the Office Building bathroom the screen can stay black: press a button to continue.
- The Konami and KCET logos and the credits are stretched on a wide screen.
- If it crashes,
sh3-crash.logis written next to the NRO: please attach it to an issue, with your save
(savedatafolder) if you can.
Install
- Put
sh3-nx.nroin/switch/sh3-nx/on the SD card, together withsh3.exeand thedatafolder from your
own PC copy of Silent Hill 3, and an emptysavedatafolder. Updating from an earlier version: just replace the
NRO; saves, settings and the shader cache are kept. - Launch it from the homebrew menu in title takeover mode (hold R while starting an installed game), not from the
album.
Full instructions and controls: see the README.
No game files are included.

v0.04
New controls and a crash fix.
Changed
- Controls laid out as in sh2-nx: L / R strafe, ZL readies the weapon, ZR is the search view. A
savedata/key.ini
saved by an older version keeps its old layout: delete it to get the new one (or change them in
Options > Button Config). - Fixed a crash when breaking the white rubble wall with the silencer in the construction site (reported by
Jlancaster94 on Discord). It was a callback that was only partly recompiled; nine others like it are fixed too.
Everything else is as in v0.03.
Known issues

v0.03
Better crash logs, so crash reports point straight at the cause.
Changed
sh3-crash.lognow lists the last calls made by the thread that crashed. Before, every thread of the
game wrote to one shared list, so the calls of the crashing thread were mixed with the others'.- With
log=1insh3.ini,sh3.lognow names any file the game fails to open, which helps with
"files are missing" problems. - Fixed a crash when entering the area past the Hazel Street station stairs (a monster callback that
was never recompiled; another one like it is fixed too).
Everything else is as in v0.02.
Known issues
- The FMVs are skipped.
- After the cutscene in the Office Building bathroom the screen can stay black: press a button to
continue (reported by poyo575xd on Discord). - The Konami and KCET logos and the credits are stretched on a wide screen.
- Little tested past the first areas. If it crashes,
sh3-crash.logis written next to the NRO:
please attach it to an issue, with your save (savedatafolder) if you can.

v0.02
Heather's hair, fixed in the real-time cutscenes.
Fixed
- Heather's hair in the real-time cutscenes was drawn as solid blocks with straight edges
(#1, reported and tested by poyo575xd on Discord).
The game keeps some of its textures as 8-bit paletted images (D3DFMT_P8), and the port expanded
them for OpenGL with every pixel forced opaque, so the alpha mask stored in the palette was lost.
Heather's gameplay model has solid hair, but her cutscene model is built from layered strands
that depend on that alpha, which is why only the real-time cutscenes showed it. The palette's
alpha is now honored, as on the GeForce-class cards the PC version was made for, and palettes
are handled as Direct3D 8 does: numbers up to 65535 (they were cut to 256) and a texture is
expanded again when its palette changes.
Everything else is as in v0.01.
Known issues
- The FMVs are skipped.
- The Konami and KCET logos and the credits are stretched on a wide screen.
- Little tested past the first areas. If it crashes,
sh3-crash.logis written next to the NRO:
