Initial Release of Scitify (v1.0.0)

Overview

Scitify is a customisable scientific paper retriever designed to help researchers stay updated with the latest publications. Scitify pulls papers from arXiv, bioRxiv, and PubMed, delivering them via email or Twitter.

Features

  • Automated Paper Retrieval: Scitify fetches papers based on your specified keywords and sends notifications automatically.
  • Customizable Email and Twitter Alerts: Receive updates via email (Gmail/Outlook) or Twitter (bot-based tweets).
  • Easy Setup: Simple configuration by specifying required fields in text files to personalize your notifications.
  • Privacy protection: Secure management of user credentials.

How to Use

  1. Clone the repository from GitHub.
  2. Set your retrieval preferences along with your email and Twitter API configurations in the configuration file.
  3. Execute the desired functions to begin retrieving and posting updates.

For full installation instructions, see the README.

Future Enhancements

  • Improved filtering options for more precise paper selection.
  • Potential integration with additional journal platforms, although arXiv, bioRxiv, and PubMed sufficiently cover major scientific disciplines.
  • LLM-based abstract summarization. This feature has been explored, but the quality of summaries remains inadequate for specialised scientific terminology.
