In this dialog you can create new, empty floppy disk and hard disk images. This images can be mounted as drives inside DOSBox via the drives page of the profile editor.
From the tabs at the top of the dialog you can choose whether to create a floppy or a hard disk image. On floppy images you can choose a floppy format or select the tracks, heads and sectors per track manually. On hard disk images you can select the size in MB.

Compress image in NTFS file system
If this option is activated, the image file will be stored as a compressed file. This means the file will only use the amount of disk space it really needs to store the files inside it and not for every empty sector. The compression will be done by the Windows disk drivers so use can handle this file like a normal file without needing to use a (de-)compression program. -
Make image bootable
If this option is activated, DFendX will transfer the FreeDOS boot files to the disk image and will create a bootsector for making it bootable. (For using this option you will need to have FreeDOS installed. You can configurate the path a you FreeDOS installation on the FreeDOS page of the program options dialog.) -
Use DOSBox default keyboard layout
If this option is activated, DFendX will also transfer the keyboard driver to the disk image and will add a line to theautoexec.batfile to activate the keyboard layout which is defined as default for the current DFendX program language. -
Include mouse driver
If this option is activated, DFendX will transfer the mouse driver to the disk image and will add a line to theautoexec.batfile to activate it. -
Add disk management utilities
If this option is activated, utilities for creating partitions, formating and checking drives will be added to the disk image. -
Add text editor
If this option is activated, a text editor will be transfered to the image. -
Add DosZip file manager
If this option is activated, DosZip Commander, a file manager, will be transfered to the image. -
Create DOSBox profile for booting the image
If this option is activated, DFendX will create a DOSBox profile for booting this image file.
