MSS Toolbox 2.0.4 is a corrective and maintenance update to Release 2.0.

Enhancements

  • Added headingAutopilot.m, the SISO PID pole-placement heading controller used by SIMhydroVessel.
  • Added mssConstants.m as the common source for seawater density, air density, and standard gravity.
  • Updated MATLAB models, libraries, utilities, and examples to use the shared physical constants without changing their public function interfaces.
  • Retained hardcoded constants in SIMULINK initialization files for compatibility.

Corrections

  • Corrected the primary function name in hybridPath.m to match its filename.
  • Changed the recommended JONSWAP parameter-range check from an error to a warning, allowing valid user-selected spectra outside the recommended range.
  • Updated the GUI defaults to avoid triggering the JONSWAP warning: Hs = 2.0 m and w0 = 1.0 rad/s. The LAUV preset uses Hs = 0.5 m and w0 = 2.0 rad/s.
  • Standardized the default seawater density to 1025 kg/m³ across the MATLAB code.
  • Updated the README heading to identify the release line as Release 2.0.

Verification

  • All 279 MATLAB files parse successfully.
  • Representative vessel, hydrodynamic, environmental, and controller smoke tests pass.
  • SIMULINK files remain unchanged.
