Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 15 Oct 03:31

What's new

  • Someone whose birthday is today, added through "More options", now gets the greeting you choose instead of a plain reminder
  • Dates follow your language's order, e.g. "Mittwoch, 14. Oktober" on a German phone

What's new

  • Importing a backup after changing someone's birthday no longer adds them twice
  • Phone numbers and dates in CSV exports open cleanly in spreadsheets and contact apps
  • Send now can't be followed by a second automatic text the same day

Wishday 1.3

@cybersecurityhandle cybersecurityhandle released this 13 Oct 18:25

What's new

  • Your data stays on your phone: birthdays, numbers and notes are no longer included in Android cloud backups or phone-to-phone transfers. Use Settings → Export birthdays to move them yourself.
  • Never texts anyone twice, even if two birthday checks run at the same time.
  • Missed birthdays: if a birthday passes while the phone is off, Wishday tells you afterwards instead of letting it pass silently.
  • Dual SIM: choose which SIM sends texts (Settings → Send texts from).
  • Long messages: if only part of a long text gets through, it isn't resent automatically, so nobody gets duplicate pieces. You get a notification to send it yourself.
  • Imports: importing a file asks before turning on automatic texts for anyone.
  • CSV backups remember who was already greeted this year, and are safe to open in spreadsheets.
  • WhatsApp: without WhatsApp installed, its option opens the share menu instead of a website.

Coming from 1.0 or 1.1?

Since 1.2, Wishday uses the app ID net.stuckless.wishday, so it installs alongside the old app instead of updating it. In the old app, export a CSV backup in Settings, then install this version and import it there. 1.2 updates to 1.3 normally.

Wishday 1.2

@cybersecurityhandle cybersecurityhandle released this 13 Oct 15:09

New app ID

Wishday now uses the app ID net.stuckless.wishday (it was io.github.wishday), in preparation for F-Droid. Android treats this as a different app, so 1.2 won't update 1.0 or 1.1 in place, and the two can be installed side by side.

If you have 1.0 or 1.1 installed:

  1. In the old app, open Settings and export a CSV backup.
  2. Install 1.2.
  3. In 1.2, open Settings and import the backup.
  4. Once everything is there, you can uninstall the old app.

There are no other changes from 1.1.

Wishday 1.1

What's new

  • Search and sort: search everyone by name or number, and sort the list by name or by date (date is the default).
  • SMS permission: Wishday now asks for it when you choose SMS, before "Send SMS now", and at launch if someone is set to SMS. If Android stops asking, it takes you to the right Settings page.
  • Saving birthdays to contacts: people are matched by phone number as well as by name, and picking a contact links it. Anyone still without a contact gets a checklist to merge duplicates, link to an existing contact, or create a new one.
  • Restoring a backup: importing a CSV now fills in settings (SMS/WhatsApp, message, gift reminder, notes) for people already in the app instead of skipping them.

Fixes

  • Fixed a crash at launch in some release builds.

Updates over 1.0 and keeps your data.
