Pixel Worlds v0.3.0 — Public alpha
Pixel Worlds v0.3.0 — Public alpha
- Bridge and Main Engineering share crew placement and room counts. The chief engineer's office is excluded.
- Compact Trek controls sit to the right of the common display toolbar on wide panes, with an accessible narrow-pane fallback.
- Controls, buttons, empty states and the background around each world follow the active Hermes theme. Transparent accent layers are composited correctly, fixing the pale-blue panels in dark themes.
- Theme changes update even while animation is paused or reduced motion is enabled. Scene artwork is unchanged by theme switching.
- Refined bridge artwork and updated repository screenshots.
Install
Download plugin.js and replace <HERMES_HOME>/desktop-plugins/pixel-worlds/plugin.js, preserving a backup. Hermes Desktop hot-reloads desktop plugins. The catalog update is submitted separately and requires maintainer review.
Tested on macOS; public alpha. No Python tools, hooks, middleware or environment credentials are required. Scene actions are local presentation only, not commands or job routing.
PD Pixel Worlds v0.2.0 — realms + PW Agents
Realms you can share, agents you can live with
- Browse and download realms from a screenshot gallery linked at the top of the README.
- Import
.pwrealm.jsonfiles into a persistent local library without rebuilding or restarting Hermes. Packages contain bounded embedded PNG artwork, station positions and existing character styles—not executable code. - PW Agents is a dedicated scene-only sidebar/palette view. It shares Pixel Worlds' live runtime, preferences and imported realms, with honest demo/live status and off-stage counts.
- Three starter downloads: Office Space, Kitten Café and a TNG-inspired bridge. The builtin office retains its parent-linked printer-yard choreography; imported office scenery uses its own station layout.
- Creator skill, format guide, author/license/provenance metadata and a realm-submission issue form.
- Native Hermes
plugin.yamlpackage and canonicaldesktop/plugin.js, alongside the standalone download.
Install
Copy plugin.js to <HERMES_HOME>/desktop-plugins/pixel-worlds/plugin.js, or extract the ZIP and run node scripts/install.mjs. It preserves an existing installation under plugin-backups. Node.js 22+ is needed only for that installer.
For current native plugin managers:
hermes plugins install cygnostik/pd-pixel-worlds --no-enable
hermes plugins enable pixel-worldsThe direct source install does not require official-catalog acceptance. Updating an existing standalone copy is explicit; current Hermes preserves it when materializing a native package.
Open Pixel Worlds to browse/import/manage realms; open PW Agents for the daily display. The original Pixel Agents is separate and is not altered by the public installer.
Verification
69 unit tests, 30 browser checks, and real-browser checks of all three package downloads passed. Package art and crew render pixel-identically to the corresponding builtin demonstrations. Real-host diagnostics verified both routes/navigation entries and imported PNG decoding/rendering on macOS. Native validation and isolated install/enable/disable passed. Browser fixtures are not live-agent evidence.
The native scanner reports a nonblocking encoded_exfil advisory on long PNG data fields in two realm JSON files. These are embedded, validated PNG artwork, not network destinations or executable payloads. No backend tools, hooks, credentials or Python dependencies are declared.
MIT covers original contributions. The franchise-inspired examples are unofficial; trademark/franchise rights are excluded. See NOTICE.md.
PD Pixel Worlds v0.1.0 — public alpha
First public alpha
Three original procedural realms for Hermes Desktop:
- Office Space — cubicles, CRTs and parent-linked printer-yard teamwork.
- Kitten Café — sunlit café, expressive kittens and climbing furniture.
- Star Trek: TNG — an unofficial aft-facing Enterprise-D-inspired bridge.
Display mode removes the dashboard for everyday viewing. Theme selection, pause, an honest live/demo indicator and on-stage/off-stage counts remain available; Escape returns to the viewer.
The shared runtime preserves source-qualified identity, real delegation relationships, attention reminders and selection across realms. Background observations expire rather than masquerading as verified connectivity.
Downloads
plugin.js: ready-to-install Hermes Desktop plugin.pd-pixel-worlds-v0.1.0.zip: plugin, optional Node installer, installation guide and license notices.- The source repository includes a standalone preview, creator skill, realm authoring guide, starter catalog and contribution workflow.
Copy plugin.js to <HERMES_HOME>/desktop-plugins/pixel-worlds/plugin.js and enable Pixel Worlds in Desktop if needed. No Node dependencies are required for a manual installation. The ZIP's optional installer requires Node.js 22+ and keeps a recovery copy of an existing installation.
Verification
58 unit tests and 20 browser checks passed locally and in GitHub Actions on Linux/Node.js 22. An independent source checkout installed its own dependencies, rebuilt the identical plugin and passed both browser suites. Public documentation images use demonstration agents only.
This release is the Pixel Worlds viewer/runtime and starter collection. The separate PW Agents product and PW Online hub remain planned. Realm submissions currently use reviewed source pull requests.
Our code and original contributions are MIT-licensed. Film/franchise-inspired demos are unofficial; see NOTICE.md for the rights boundary.
