EthCal v1.3.1

🚀 Core Upgrades & Architecture

  • Kenat v4.0.0: Upgraded core calendar dependency to v4.0.0 with safe optional holiday attribute handling.
  • Modern ESM Build: Replaced bundled single-file build with clean 1:1 unbundled transpilation, relative .js imports, and explicit GNOME Shell gi:// ESM imports.
  • Stignite Optimization: Removed redundant double-rendering cascade—components now update once reactively through UpdateOrchestrator.

🔍 Logging & Diagnostics

  • Tiered Logger (error, warn, info, debug): Added timestamped, structured logging format ([EthCal] <timestamp> <LEVEL>).
  • Preferences Integration: Added a Debug Settings section to the Preferences window with dynamic log level switching.
  • Streamlined CLI Logs: Fixed bun run log (scripts/log.sh) with real-time journalctl --user streaming and quick-copy terminal command.

🛠️ Installer & CI/CD

  • Robust install.sh (Fixes #1):
    • Fixed non-interactive curl ... | bash piping (no more stalling or premature aborts).
    • Replaced strict $XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP checks with case-insensitive and binary detection (Ubuntu, Pop!_OS, Zorin, Fedora).
    • Added auto-detection and building for local zip packages (--local).
  • GitHub Release Workflow: Streamlined .github/workflows/release.yml with Node 22, Bun, and automated zip asset releases via bun run release <version>.

🐛 Bug Fixes

  • Preferences UI: Removed duplicate author entry in the Credits section.
  • Log Level Sync: Fixed GSettings lifecycle references to eliminate duplicate log level change notifications across Shell and Preferences processes.

Installation

  1. Download the .shell-extension.zip file
  2. Install using: gnome-extensions install --force <filename>
  3. Restart GNOME Shell or log out/in
