2.2.3

Major rework of the native build: dependencies now come from upstream as git submodules, and the library is published to Maven Central.

⚠️ New coordinates

The library is now available on Maven Central under a new group id:

dependencies {
    implementation 'io.github.dalgarins:android-spatialite:2.2.3'
}

It is still published on JitPack as com.github.dalgarins:android-spatialite:2.2.3, but JitPack is deprecated and will stop receiving new versions in a future release. To migrate, change the group id from com.github.dalgarins to io.github.dalgarins; the Java API (org.spatialite.*) is unchanged.

Changes

  • Maven Central: published as io.github.dalgarins:android-spatialite, signed and released automatically from GitHub Releases.
  • Git submodules: PROJ, GEOS, iconv and libxml2 are now fetched from their upstream repositories, pinned to the tagged releases, instead of being copied into this repository.
  • libxml2 2.15.2 (was 2.13.6).
  • lzma removed: it was not used by libxml2 or Spatialite.
  • Static C++ runtime (c++_static): libc++_shared.so is no longer shipped, which avoids More than one file was found with OS independent path 'lib/<abi>/libc++_shared.so' conflicts with other native libraries.
  • Consumer ProGuard/R8 rules included in the AAR: apps using minification no longer need to add the org.spatialite keep rules manually.
  • Build: Android Gradle Plugin 9, Gradle 9, compileSdk 37, NDK r27d, Java 8 bytecode.

Fallback

2.2.2 (JitPack) is the last release built from the vendored native sources. If you find a problem with 2.2.3, you can go back to it while it is being fixed:

implementation 'com.github.dalgarins:android-spatialite:2.2.2'
