@danbyumagic danbyumagic released this 10 Oct 22:34

Built and uploaded GBRUNCH Toolbox v0.3 (~1 GB).

Download ISO · Mac instructions · Quick start

Included in this ISO:

  • Persistent workspace setup accepts a dedicated USB drive/USB SSD of 64 GB or larger, including a 240 GB SSD. No manual size patch.
  • Local recovery assembly and internal installer include a shared Android menu: tested HP/QEMU default and explicit Experimental boot - untested hardware (verbose logs).
  • Original source/partition checks and existing verbose logging remain intact.

Final ISO installed scripts were extracted and checked against source. UEFI QEMU boot reached the v0.3 XFCE/dashboard. Actual GRUB tests with simulated Dell SMBIOS reached the original Google kernel through the experimental entry; HP/QEMU defaults passed. This is not a physical Dell or complete Android-in-new-layout success claim.

Google recovery/system/vendor/kernel images are not distributed. The live toolbox downloads official Lenovo recovery directly from Google and builds locally. Writing the ISO erases the selected dedicated external drive. The download is hosted on a temporary Filebin mirror because the connected credential rejected GitHub release-binary uploads; mirror expiration is possible.

Experimental GBRUNCH source, research writeup, credits and Linux toolbox workflow are published in this repository.

Only the earlier external V7 Googlebook desktop on one HP Envy x360/Core Ultra 7 155U is physically demonstrated. The new trial/internal installer uses QEMU dummy system/Windows tests for copying, partition preservation, rollback and original-kernel handoff; complete physical Android boot in those new layouts is unconfirmed.

Downloads:

  • Pinned compatibility dependency archive, containing GNU/AOSP/redistributable firmware assets, licenses, provenance and rebuild helpers. Run python3 tools/fetch_toolbox_assets.py from the checkout.
  • ISO download and quick start. The verified ISO is on a temporary Filebin mirror; GitHub release-file upload was rejected by the connected credential. There are no attached ISO assets in this release.
  • Download hashes.

Known unchanged v0.2 ISO limitation: drives larger than 64 GB need the one-line storage-size patch documented in the quick start. New source builds include the fix.

No Google recovery-derived binary image or raw personal log is published. Googlebook OS is proprietary; download its official recovery directly from Google and build locally. Original GBRUNCH scripts are MIT; upstream software and firmware retain their own licenses. Read the README and guides before writing a drive.

Latest main-branch source now adds Experimental boot - untested hardware (verbose logs) alongside the HP/QEMU-gated default. Actual GRUB/QEMU tests passed for a simulated Dell's explicit entry reaching the original Google kernel and for HP/QEMU defaults. This is not a physical Dell or Android desktop compatibility claim. The unchanged ISO predates this menu; see existing-disk menu upgrade instructions.
