DC Studio 0.3.0

Notation

  • The notation panel is set in New York at 14pt — Apple's reading serif, two points up from the old system font. Six faces to choose from, all of them fonts macOS already has: New York, System, Charter, Iowan Old Style, Avenir Next, SF Mono.
  • One size, 11 to 22pt, decides the whole right-hand column: variations and comments, the indent, the engine lines, the opening-tree rows. Printing follows it too, so paper matches the screen.
  • New Settings window (⌘,) with a live preview of the main line, a variation and a comment.

Changed

  • Letters (Nf3) in the notation by default, as ChessBase shows them. Figurines (♘f3) are a switch in Settings or Game ▸ Figurine Notation; the PGN always keeps the letter either way.

Apple Silicon Mac, macOS 14 (Sonoma) or later.

Download DC-Studio-0.3.0-arm64.dmg, open it, drag DC Studio into Applications.

The build is ad-hoc signed but not notarized, so the first launch is
blocked with Apple could not verify "DC Studio" is free of malware…
That dialog offers no way to continue — dismiss it without letting it move the
app to the trash, then either run

xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine "/Applications/DC Studio.app"

or open System Settings ▸ Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway
next to the message about DC Studio.
