Xplorer v0.6.2
Xplorer v0.6.2
Customizable toolbar
- Fully customizable from Settings → Toolbar (new sidebar layout): reorder pills, enable/disable, edit dropdown links, and add your own pills — label, URL, and an icon from a built-in library.
- New default pills: Imagine and Grok on X. A quick-add catalog of xAI / X services (Console, Docs, xAI, Grok Business, Plans, Companions, X Premium, X Analytics, X Pro, X Spaces, X Communities).
- Single-link pills (Groki, x.com, X Chat) no longer carry a redundant dropdown.
Branding & About page
- "About Xplorer" in the app menu + 3-dot menu.
- About page now shows the Xplorer logo, the Xplorer version ("Xplorer 0.6.2 · Chromium …"), and "Xplorer is made possible by the Chromium open source project."
- Live update check — the About page now checks the Xplorer GitHub releases (not Chromium) for a newer version.
- "Get help" links to the Xplorer GitHub.
Universal macOS: Apple Silicon (arm64) + Intel (x86_64), Developer ID–signed, notarized, and stapled.

Xplorer v0.6.1
Xplorer v0.6.1
Fixes video playback on sites that use MP4 / H.264 (e.g. x.com).
The build previously shipped with Chromium's default ffmpeg (proprietary_codecs=false, ffmpeg_branding="Chromium"), which omits H.264 / AAC. Sites serving MP4 video — like x.com — failed with "The media could not be played", while YouTube worked because it uses royalty-free VP9/AV1/Opus. v0.6.1 sets proprietary_codecs=true + ffmpeg_branding="Chrome", so H.264/AAC now decode.
Universal macOS: Apple Silicon (arm64) and Intel (x86_64), Developer ID–signed, notarized, and stapled.

Xplorer v0.6.0
Xplorer v0.6.0
Unified toolbar. The toolbar is now a single source of behavior (companion/ui/toolbar.js) shared by the companion pages (Grok Build / Web / Wiki) and the native overlay injected on x.com, grok.com, grokipedia, and X Chat. This removes three drifted copies of the toolbar markup/CSS/logic and the fragile C++ href-rewrite — edit it once, it updates everywhere.
macOS universal. Native builds for both Apple Silicon (arm64) and Intel (x86_64), each Developer ID–signed, notarized, and stapled (opens cleanly on other Macs — no "damaged" warning).

Xplorer v0.4.0
AI-native Chromium fork with Grok wired in at the source level. macOS (Apple Silicon).
What's new since v0.3.0
Grok-first browsing
- Grok is the default search engine — typing a query in the address bar searches Grok (via the local gateway → grok.com), and the omnibox placeholder reads "Search Grok…".
- "Ask Grok about this page" — the omnibox page action (formerly "Ask Google about this page") now opens Grok with the page context.
- Grok "it" menu fixed — the floating Grok button's actions (Analyze / Summarize / Explain / Build app from page / …) all work again.
Unified toolbar
- One canonical glass toolbar across companion pages and the x.com / grok.com / grokipedia overlay: X Chat · Grok Build · Grok Web · Groki · x.com · Settings.
- Logo shows just the X, hover reveals "Xplorer".
- Hide/show with a draggable reveal pill; the bar now offsets page content instead of covering it.
Grok Build (apps)
- Redesigned gallery: live preview thumbnails, Build + Preview + ⋯ per card, and a dedicated /apps/new create form.
- Fixed app edit/resume builds (were failing with "grok build failed") and the preview auto-refresh flicker.
- New /logs page + build stderr capture for diagnostics.
Identity & polish
- About Xplorer page (no more failed Google update check).
- Settings page fix; new-tab background picker (per light/dark).

Xplorer v0.3.0 — the Grok-native browser. First release under the Xplorer name (formerly XBrowser). macOS · Apple Silicon.
Highlights
- Rebranded to Xplorer — app, bundle id (
org.xplorer.Xplorer), welcome, and settings. - Unified glass toolbar — one canonical toolbar across Xplorer's pages and as an overlay on grok.com, x.com, and Grokipedia (Grok Build · Grok Web · Imagine · Groki · X), with hide/show.
- "Grok it" button on every page — Summarize, "Is this true?" (fact-check), Explain, Analyze, or Build app from page.
- Grok Build — describe an app and Grok builds it with a live preview; iterate by chatting. Fixes to edit/resume builds; bulk export/restart/delete; each app in its own folder with a dedicated conversation.
- Grok Search home — new tabs open Grok Search (Web + Imagine), handing off to grok.com with context.
- New
/logspage for the companion. - Agent-ready — always-on local gateway (CDP on
:9333, Agent API on:9334) plus a bundled MCP server.

XBrowser v0.2.0
XBrowser v0.2.0 — the AI-native Chromium fork (formerly Aether), now rebranded with a neon-X logo.
Full web browser (real Blink/V8/sandbox, not Electron) that any agent connects to and drives fast.
New since v0.1
- Rebrand → XBrowser with a custom glowing-X app icon.
- Live HUD overlay — animated pixel badge showing the controlling agent + model, and a metrics bar (calls, KB in/out, clicks, types, reads…). Per-tab, persists after the agent stops (live→idle).
- Action highlighting — color-coded flashes on what the agent clicks (pink), types (blue), reads (green), and scans/links (cyan/gold). Toggle in the badge, on by default.
- Fixed agent onboarding —
~/.aether/gateway.jsondiscovery file, helpful 401s, and a zero-dep MCP server (nativeaether_*tools). - Background/parallel control, screenshot any hidden tab, multi-agent tab ownership.
Install (macOS, Apple Silicon)

Aether v0.1.1 — agent onboarding fixes
Aether v0.1.1 — agent onboarding fixes. This release makes Aether much easier for agents to connect to and drive (the v0.1.0 onboarding tripped up agents).
What's new
- Fixed discovery file
~/.aether/gateway.json{url, token}— agents read ONE known path instead of hunting for the token under the profile dir (the #1 thing that broke agents before). - Helpful auth errors — a missing/bad token returns 401 with a
fixmessage (was a misleading 404);GET /is an unauthenticated discovery endpoint. - MCP server (
sdk/aether_mcp.py, zero-dependency) — register it and your agent gets nativeaether_*tools (navigate, observe, click, type, press, read_text, screenshot, tabs, …). No more hand-rolled curl/JSON. - Robust typing —
aether_typeclicks to focus the page's real input, then clears + types, so text lands in the right field on delegated/combobox inputs. aether_observegainsrole/limitfilters.
Verified clean agent session (navigate → find article → click → read) end-to-end over MCP with no token handling.
Install (macOS, Apple Silicon)
- Download
Aether-macos-arm64.dmg, open it, drag Aether to Applications. xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Aether.app(self-signed), then open.- Add the MCP server (see AGENTS.md).
