knobs runs the mic filter chain you tuned in OBS Studio and sends it to a virtual cable, so your other apps get the same processed mic while OBS stays closed.

What’s new in 1.0.0

  • knobs runs VST filters: the VST 2 plugins in your OBS mic chain, through OBS’s own VST support, with the same output as OBS. It never opens a plugin’s window.
  • knobs runs NVIDIA’s noise removal (NVIDIA Audio Effects) through OBS’s own NVIDIA filters, with NVIDIA’s Audio Effects SDK and an NVIDIA RTX GPU, as in OBS.
  • Installers can update your VST plugins and NVIDIA’s SDK while knobs runs: knobs pauses for them, and restarts by itself when it has to.
  • An installer that uses Windows’ Restart Manager can close knobs and open it again after the update.
  • knobs tells you when a filter in your chain passes audio through untouched, such as a plugin that’s missing, and when an installer is waiting for it.
  • A new look: the setup window, the icons and the installer’s images come from the knobs brand, and the tray icon follows your taskbar’s light or dark mode.
  • Plainer words in the setup window, the menu, the notifications and the installer.
  • Small fixes and polish.

Download

  • knobs-1.0.0-setup.exe: the installer. It installs for your Windows account only and needs no admin rights. With no virtual cable on your PC, it offers to install VB-CABLE, VB-Audio’s donationware cable from www.vb-cable.com.
  • knobs-1.0.0-portable.zip: the portable zip. Unzip it anywhere: it keeps its settings and its data in its own folder.

You need 64-bit Windows 10 (version 1803 or later) or 11, OBS Studio 32.2 to 33.x with your mic set up in it, and a virtual cable such as VB-CABLE. The setup guide has the steps.

knobs is signed by Daniel Alyoshin, through Azure Artifact Signing. Windows SmartScreen may still warn about a new release until enough people have run it. Choose More info, then Run anyway.
