knobs runs the mic filter chain you tuned in OBS Studio and sends it to a virtual cable, so your other apps get the same processed mic while OBS stays closed.
What’s new in 1.2.0
- The installer installs VB-CABLE in the background: there’s no VB-Audio window to click through and no restart message. Windows asks you to let it install its driver.
- In the setup window’s walkthroughs, the step being shown sits on a highlighted row, and you can click a step to jump to it. While a walkthrough is paused, a click shows the moment that matters in that step, and Play starts the step from its beginning.
- The setup’s last page says in its heading which device to choose as your mic in your other apps, such as CABLE Output.
- When VB-CABLE’s devices are ready without a restart, the setup says you don’t need to restart Windows.
- Small fixes and polish.

- knobs-1.2.0-setup.exe: the installer. It installs for your Windows account only and needs no admin rights. With no virtual cable on your PC, it offers to install VB-CABLE, VB-Audio’s donationware cable from www.vb-cable.com.
- knobs-1.2.0-portable.zip: the portable zip. Unzip it anywhere: it keeps its settings and its data in its own folder.
You need 64-bit Windows 10 (version 1803 or later) or 11, OBS Studio 32.2 to 33.x with your mic set up in it, and a virtual cable such as VB-CABLE. The setup guide has the steps.
knobs is signed by Daniel Alyoshin, through Azure Artifact Signing. Windows SmartScreen may still warn about a new release until enough people have run it. Choose More info, then Run anyway.
