Skylense 0.4.2 · Clear source guides
Skylense 0.4.2 preview
Source guides now make their relationship to the module tree visible: the tree shows where code lives, while a guide groups connected objects to read together.
- Replace path-heavy guide lists with cards showing a short file or symbol title, compact module context, relationship purpose, category and exact object/edge counts.
- Recommend source modules first and diversify reading entries across modules. Keep examples, tests, documents and tools in separate groups. GFlowNet starts with its module dependencies instead of a high-degree test file.
- Browse guides related to the current module or view all suggestions. Opening a guide highlights its members and containing folders in the tree.
- Keep the graph selection, guide object dropdown and reading position synchronized. Locate an object in the module tree, or return to the previous view.
- Give older exported source models readable guide cards while retaining their original guide membership, nodes, edges and evidence. Curated scenarios retain their authored content.
- Preserve the full indexed graph: the pinned real GFlowNet model still has 6,303 nodes and 5,358 edges, with canonical hierarchy, documents and source evidence unchanged. Tests cover guide membership, exact counts, overlapping neighborhoods, duplicate names and same-line declarations.
Guides are selected static reading neighborhoods with possible branches, not runtime execution traces. Full relationships remain available through the hierarchy, upstream/downstream and path search. Verified GitHub content reuse from 0.4.1 and the existing incremental syntax cache remain available.
Download the Web ZIP for offline HTML, or the Node.js 22+ toolkit for CLI, terminal and MCP. Source licensing and commercial rights remain reserved. Third-party parser/compiler and example notices are included. No hosted model API is required. A native macOS installer is not included.
Skylense 0.4.1 · Faster maps, complete evidence
Skylense 0.4.1 preview
Repeat analysis is faster while preserving the complete supported source map.
- Reuse repeated source evidence and URL validation; remove redundant graph-guide scans and whole-model serialization.
- Public GitHub imports recheck repository metadata, commit and file tree, then verify cached bytes against the current Git blob SHA. Changed files are downloaded; invalid or unavailable caches fall back to source reads.
- Browser and CLI/MCP share the same analysis. The analysis report includes file reuse counts; public content caches are local and bounded. Local-folder source contents do not enter this cache.
- Tested with a pinned real repository: all 6,303 nodes, 5,358 edges, 370 source documents and existing diagnostics remain equal. Warm local analysis measured 1.45 → 0.97 seconds; a paired Node GitHub import measured 11.45 → 1.06 seconds with warm syntax caches. Results depend on source, machine, cache and network; cold syntax parsing remains a separate cost.

Skylense 0.4.0 — Complete source indexing
Skylense 0.4.0 upgrades source ingestion to complete eligible-source indexing by default. Large repositories retain their full graph while the workspace unfolds modules and pages for readability.
- 24 bundled syntax grammars with content-addressed reuse of unchanged files.
- Project-aware imports, TypeScript compiler bindings and heritage edges, conservative Python bindings, and explicit Julia method candidate sets.
- Cancellable browser analysis, source-backed guides, orthogonal relationships and ordered-waypoint paths.
- The same model in the browser, CLI and nine MCP tools, including
skylense_path. - Updated homepage with a repository URL entry point and clear analysis coverage.
Pinned Gflownet validation: 417 eligible files, 6,303 nodes and 5,358 relationships agree across folder, FileList, GitHub URL, CLI and MCP. All 18,282 evidence excerpts were checked against source. Syntax recovery, unsupported constructs and unresolved/dynamic targets remain explicit; complete collection does not imply complete runtime semantics.
Download skylense-0.4.0-web-preview.zip, extract it, and open standalone.html for the offline-capable workspace. Or install skylense-0.4.0.tgz with Node.js 22+ using npm install --global ./skylense-0.4.0.tgz, then run skylense open ./your-project. Public hosted app: https://danielchen26.github.io/skylense-app/
This is a public preview under the included NOTICE, not a new open-source license for Skylense. Bundled parsers and TypeScript retain their own upstream licenses. This release includes Web and CLI/Agent packages; native macOS packaging is separate. Verify downloads with SHA256SUMS.txt.
Skylense 0.3.2 · Follow your source
Skylense 0.3.2 makes automatically analyzed repositories easier to explore at source level.
- Navigate file declarations as graph nodes, including qualified Python classes, methods and nested functions.
- Follow conservative Python bare-call and constructor candidates through the full upstream/downstream, comparison and waypoint-route workbench. Uncertain targets remain explicit.
- Read declaration evidence directly in function cards, see only relevant source documents, and locate unresolved references by file and line.
- See HTML script and stylesheet resources as distinct load relationships.
Validated against the same pinned karpathy/autoresearch commit as the curated example: all 50 Python declarations match an independent AST, all 28 curated function identities are covered, and the generated map now has 75 nodes and 32 relationships. Browser file input, GitHub URL, local CLI and installed MCP agree. Curated conceptual flows are not invented by the static analyzer.
Web ZIP: extract and open standalone.html. Agent toolkit: Node.js 22+, npm install -g ./skylense-0.3.2.tgz.
Public application preview under NOTICE.md. No Jev API/SDK/service dependency. Incremental caching, background Workers, notebook cell parsing and arbitrary runtime dispatch are not part of this release.
Skylense 0.3.1 — Faster source evidence
Skylense 0.3.1 — Faster source evidence
A focused performance and correctness update to the complete source-to-workbench preview.
- Reuse per-file line indexes when generating source previews and mapping HTML headings/links to source lines.
- Fix a false dependency candidate caused by import-like text inside an arrow function's regular expression.
- Preserve the complete hierarchy, relationship inspectors, animated orthogonal routes, waypoint planning, themes, exports, CLI and eight-tool MCP interface.
On one 245 KB heading/link-heavy synthetic HTML fixture, median pure model-build time fell from 948.14 ms to 13.51 ms on Node.js 22.17 / macOS arm64. A 300-file JavaScript fixture improved from 194.14 ms to 169.75 ms. Each used three trials and retained exact full-model output. These measurements exclude source acquisition and rendering and are not a general app-wide speedup claim.

npm install -g /absolute/path/to/skylense-0.3.1.tgz
skylense open /path/to/projectThe analyzer remains a bounded static map; scope-sensitive imports and unsupported language semantics can remain unresolved or lexical candidates. No Jev runtime dependency or external AI source upload is enabled. The preview-use notice, reserved source/commercial licensing and upstream-example notices are unchanged. Native macOS packaging remains separate.

One model, the full experience
Generated maps use the same hierarchy, same-level focus, category boundaries, animated orthogonal connections, node/edge previews, upstream/downstream/global context, ordered-waypoint routes, comparison, saved views, six themes, JSON/SVG exports and presentation mode as the bundled examples.
- Browser: select a folder/files, paste text, or enter a public URL. Review the coverage report before applying the map. Selected local files are read in the browser, not uploaded.
- CLI: analyze a source to JSON, inspect it in your terminal, or open the complete local Web app with one command.
- Agents: eight stdio MCP tools now analyze sources, export models and open selected objects in the full viewer. A portable skill and model contract support richer, source-backed semantic maps.

What the analyzer establishes
All accepted file types retain hierarchy and metadata; readable text has bounded previews. Python/JavaScript/TypeScript declarations and resolvable imports are lexical candidates, not runtime call traces. HTML/Markdown expose headings and explicit references. Agents can enrich the shared model with evidence; the analyzer does not invent execution scenarios.
The default is 300 files, adjustable to 1,000, with a 1,000-entity budget. Coverage reports disclose skips, truncation and unresolved references. Open large repositories by subfolder. Browser URL reads depend on CORS; use the local CLI or a saved page when blocked. This release does not decode binary documents, fetch private repositories with account credentials, log into websites, render their JavaScript or crawl entire sites.

What you can explore
- A connected hierarchy. Move from systems to modules and components while keeping parent context, direct relationships, and source evidence in view.
- Your own reading route. Pick a start and destination, add ordered intermediate waypoints, filter relationships, and compare up to three bounded alternatives. Inspect each original edge and apply a route to the Web canvas. Reverse reading is labeled; missing connections are reported explicitly.
- Six themes. Porcelain, Jade, Sandstone, Midnight, Graphite, and Aurora preserve the selected object, camera, zoom, and reading position as you switch.
- Flows you can explain. Follow curated scenarios with animated orthogonal connections and presentation mode. Motion indicates relationship direction, not live execution.
- The same map beyond the browser. Use JSON CLI queries, a keyboard-driven terminal explorer, or six read-only tools through a compatible local stdio MCP client.
The three bundled source maps are curated views at fixed commits, with attributed excerpts and source links. They are not exhaustive indexes or measured execution traces. Compatible Skylense JSON can be imported; automatic indexing of arbitrary repositories is not included.

Connect an agent
Copy the output of skylense config into a client that supports local stdio MCP. The tools list models, search, inspect objects, traverse relationships, read curated flows, and generate local Web view links. The ordered-waypoint builder is a Web feature, separate from those existing MCP tools.
Agent setup guide · Terminal controls
Browser imports do not automatically sync to the local MCP process. Load a compatible model explicitly with --model /absolute/path/model.json. MCP view links require a separately running local Web app; the toolkit does not start one. A connected agent receives query results under its own data policies. Privacy details.
