Burnout 3: Takedown PC port - 0.2.0 alpha
An unofficial, fan-made native Windows port of Burnout 3: Takedown (PS2): the game's program translated to C++ and compiled for the PC - not emulated. Bring your own disc image (NTSC-U, SLUS-21050); no game content is included or downloaded.
Made with AI: built by Claude Code (Anthropic's Claude), directed, playtested and reviewed by the author.
New in 0.2.0 alpha
- Texture packs: PCSX2 texture packs for Burnout 3 work as they are. Put the pack's
.dds/.pngfiles in thetexture packfolder besideburnout3.exe(folders inside are fine) and start the game; Tab turns the pack off and on. - HUD titles fixed: the outlined titles (crash mode's CRASHED! / TAKEDOWN ..., IMPACT TIME, TAKEDOWN TARGET ACHIEVED!, CRASH NAV) no longer have dark streaks through their letters.
- F12 captures now record the frame's full GS stream, so a capture attached to a bug report can be replayed exactly.
- The README lists every key: Tab (texture pack), F10 (HUD editor in widescreen), F12 (capture), Alt+Enter (fullscreen).
Getting started
- Unzip somewhere you can write to (not Program Files).
- Run
burnout3.exe. - Choose your own Burnout 3: Takedown disc image (.iso) the first time.
Needs Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit), a processor with AVX2 and a Vulkan 1.3 graphics driver. The README in the zip has the controls, the PC settings and the known issues.
Known issues
- Only the NTSC-U release (SLUS-21050) runs; online play is not available.
- A heavy moment in a race can still show a picture a frame late.
- Some menus take the mouse's wheel, right button and bottom-bar buttons, but not pointing yet.
Report problems in Issues with the burnout3.log beside the executable (and, for a picture that looks wrong, the F12 capture folder).
