LangGraph · vLLM · Hybrid Retrieval · Heterogeneous Compute
A production-ready, on-premises agent platform that turns enterprise data into actionable intelligence. Not a chatbot — a secure, explainable AI system that:
- Classifies task complexity and risk in milliseconds
- Retrieves the right context from private knowledge bases using hybrid search
- Routes to the cheapest sufficient execution path (fast / medium / deep)
- Produces cited, auditable outputs with full traceability
- Gates all write actions behind human approval
Two scenarios on one shared platform:
| Scenario | What It Does | Business Value |
|---|---|---|
| IT Ops / Service Desk | Ticket triage, runbook retrieval, root cause analysis, remediation planning | Reduce MTTR by 40-60%, cut escalation rate |
| Deep Research | Multi-source investigation, supervisor/sub-agent decomposition, cited memo generation | Save 2-4 hours per research task |

| Tier | When | Pipeline | Typical Latency |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fast | FAQ, simple lookup | Retrieve → Rerank → 1-pass synthesis | 1-3s |
| Medium | Incident investigation, bounded workflows | Retrieve → Entity extraction → Root cause → Actions → Approval | 10-20s |
| Deep | Multi-topic research, comparative analysis | Brief → Supervisor decompose → Parallel sub-agents → Reflect → Synthesize | 30-60s |
The router uses rules first (keyword patterns, query length, entity count) and LLM classification second — so simple queries never pay the cost of deep-mode execution.
The platform is explicitly designed for Intel Xeon + Arc Pro GPU heterogeneous deployment.
| Component | Hardware | Why |
|---|---|---|
| API, routing, auth, RBAC | Xeon CPU | I/O-bound control plane |
| Complexity classification | Xeon CPU (Qwen 3B) | <0.25s, frees GPU for inference |
| Embedding + FAISS search | Xeon CPU | Small model, sub-second |
| Cross-encoder reranking | Xeon CPU | 22M params, CPU-optimal |
| Reasoning + synthesis | Arc Pro GPU (Llama 8B) | 41 tok/s, high-throughput generation |
| Context packing, PII redaction | Xeon CPU | Deterministic string ops |
At production concurrency (c≥8), routing classification to the CPU creates a natural request staging buffer. The GPU never sees 32 simultaneous KV-cache-filling requests. Instead, it receives a staggered stream that it can batch efficiently.
This mechanism is analogous to a prefetch queue in CPU memory hierarchies: a cheap upstream stage keeps the expensive downstream unit in an optimal batching regime. The result:
- At c=32: 2.27× throughput vs GPU-only configuration
- GPU-only throughput drops 25% at c=32 due to KV-cache saturation
- Heterogeneous throughput keeps scaling at c=32
| Metric | GPU-Only | Heterogeneous | Advantage |
|---|---|---|---|
| Throughput @ c=32 | 21.6 q/min | 49.0 q/min | 2.27× |
| Cost per query @ c=32 | $0.0000404 | $0.0000280 | 31% cheaper |
| Monthly capacity | 56.9M queries | 129.3M queries | 2.27× |
| Quality (Claude-judged) | 4.1/5 | 3.9/5 | Parity |
Based on empirical benchmarks: 32 queries × 4 configs × 5 concurrency levels = 640 executions.
- Hybrid search: Dense vector (FAISS) + lexical (BM25) + Reciprocal Rank Fusion
- Cross-encoder reranking: Precision refinement reduces token waste by 60-80%
- Context packing: Deduplication, source diversity, token budget enforcement
- Tenant isolation: Every chunk scoped by tenant at retrieval time
- JWT + API key authentication with pluggable auth backends
- Role-based access control: admin, analyst, operator, viewer roles
- PII/secret redaction: Email, phone, SSN, API keys, passwords auto-scrubbed
- Prompt injection detection: Heuristic patterns flag hostile retrieved content
- Human approval gate: All write/execute actions require explicit approval
- Full audit trail: Every request, path, retrieval, tool call, and decision logged
- Per-node latency: Wall time, LLM time, overhead for every graph node
- Token accounting: Input/output tokens per call, per hardware, per task
- Hardware utilization: GPU vs CPU time split with model attribution
- Cost-per-query: Real-time cost estimation based on hardware rates
- Execution path tracing: Full DAG trace from ingestion to output
- Typed shared state:
AgentStateTypedDict with full type coverage - Conditional routing: Deterministic + LLM-assisted complexity routing
- Supervisor/sub-agent pattern: Isolated research sub-agents with cleaned findings
- Bounded iterations: Circuit breakers on agent loops and supervisor rounds
- Scenario subgraphs: Shared prefix/suffix with scenario-specific middle
