1. Quickstart

Wire up

  1. Connect the adapter to eBUS.
  2. At least one LED should shine (HW v3.0+) — if not, switch the eBus wires.

Adjust the input level

Blinking D1 means bus activity. The adapter comes pre-adjusted; if D1 is steadily on or off, re-adjust:

  • v6.0 and newer (web interface): open http://esp-ebus.local/config and adjust PWM (default 130, min 1, max 255). D1 steadily on → lower the value; steadily off → raise it.
  • v5.x and older (trimmer RV1; directions reversed for adapters purchased via Elecrow):
    1. Turn counterclockwise to the point between blinking and steadily on.
    2. Turn clockwise to the point between blinking and steadily off.
    3. Count the turns between the two points, set the middle with D1 blinking, then disconnect and reconnect the adapter.

Connect to WiFi

  1. Join the esp-eBus network — a configuration page opens automatically (default password ebusebus).
  2. Enter your WiFi SSID and password.
  3. After reboot, ping esp-ebus.local should answer (requires working mDNS on your network).

Verify traffic

  • telnet esp-ebus.local 3334 shows incoming bytes (unreadable binary = working receiver). Port 3334 is listen-only; anything sent there is discarded. In bridge mode every received byte is forwarded unfiltered; in INTERNAL firmware 3334 carries the framed event stream.
  • Decode messages with ebusd:
Port Mode ebusd -d option
3333 Raw, read + write -d esp-ebus.local:3333
3335 Enhanced -d enh:esp-ebus.local:3335

Next

Bridge mode → 5. Bridge mode. Standalone operation → 6. INTERNAL firmware (current).
