6.5 Home Assistant

Needs MQTT (6.4): discovery and states are MQTT messages.

Configuration

  • Configuration page, section Home Assistant: Enabled (haEnabled).
  • Configuration page, section General: Thing Name (thingName, default esp-eBus) — shown as the HA device name.
  • Broker configured and reachable (6.4).

How it works

On MQTT connect the adapter publishes discovery configs to homeassistant/<component>/ebus<id>/<key>/config per command field that carries an ha_profile (6.2) — sensors, numbers, switches, selects, binary sensors. States and commands flow through the regular MQTT topics (6.4); Home Assistant picks them up from there.

  • Device identifier: ebus<unique-id> groups all entities of one adapter into a single HA device.
  • Only fields with a non-empty ha_profile are exposed — the rest stay MQTT-only.
  • Discovery re-publishes on every (re)connect, so HA picks up restarted adapters automatically.

Requirements

  1. MQTT enabled + connected (6.4).
  2. HA enabled in config (haEnabled).
  3. Home Assistant's MQTT integration with discovery subscribed to homeassistant/# (default).
  4. Commands with ha_profile set (6.2) — otherwise there is simply nothing to discover.
