ORBIT Jellyfin v0.15
First public build of ORBIT Jellyfin, a Jellyfin client for the PlayStation 2.
Features
- Login, libraries as tabs, posters, age rating, score, genres and synopsis; movies and series (episode panel)
- Real-time streaming of any source format: Jellyfin transcodes to MPEG-2 + MP2 at SD (up to 640x368), and the PS2 decodes the video on its IPU and the audio with libmad
- Text subtitles (SRT, ASS, embedded) drawn on screen, not burned in; default languages in the config, Square switches tracks; Latin-1 letters and œ
- Pause, -10 / +30 s seek, "continue watching" (the position is saved back to Jellyfin)
Install
- Copy
APPS/Jellyfin/from the zip to the root of your USB drive (FAT32 / exFAT). - Add the lines from
orbit/config.ini.exampletomass0:/orbit/config.ini: server IP (not a.localname), user, password, subtitle languages. - Start it from the ORBIT launcher (APPS) or from uLaunchELF:
mass0:/APPS/Jellyfin/jfplay.elf.
Needs wired Ethernet (built-in on slim models, network adapter on fat ones). The log goes to mass0:/jfplay.txt.
Known limitations
- SD only (pictures above 368 lines hang ps2sdk's libmpeg)
- The UI is in Spanish for now
- This is a pre-release: the latest pause / seek fix (IPU DMA channels stopped between streams) is still being verified on real hardware
How it was made
Developed with Claude Code (Anthropic) as the coding assistant, with the OpenSpec, Ponytail and CodeGraph plugins. See the README.
