0.1.20
What changed in 0.1.20
- Added Linux x64 support — StemKit now runs on Linux at feature parity with macOS/Windows. Releases ship as a portable, self-updating AppImage and a .deb, built by the release pipeline alongside the macOS and Windows installers.
- GPU splits on Linux: the NVIDIA toggle and on-demand CUDA torch swap (~2.5 GB) now work on Linux the same way they do on Windows. Machines without an NVIDIA driver keep the smaller CPU torch build, pinned at first-launch setup.
- Linux first-launch setup prefers a private Python runtime, since many distro Pythons lack the
venvmodule (Debian/Ubuntu'spython3-venv) and are PEP 668 externally-managed. If the chosen Python can't create a venv, StemKit retries with the bundled runtime instead of failing. - Dev workflow on Linux:
npm run devworks out of the box — it detects the Linux ffmpeg/Node/Python paths and fetches a static FFmpeg build automatically. - In-app self-update on Linux works for AppImage installs; .deb installs update by re-downloading (electron-updater only supports AppImage).
- macOS/Windows behavior is unchanged.
