Fukami 1.1.0 — native port of Ridge Racer V (USA, SLUS-20002) for Windows, macOS (Apple silicon) and Steam Deck.
No game data is included. You need your own copy of Ridge Racer V (USA) as a CHD or a
.cue/.binmade from your disc; Fukami checks it and unpacks what it needs on first launch. Not affiliated with Bandai Namco or Sony. SeeLEGAL.md.
What's new
- Windows (x86-64). Fukami now runs natively on Windows PCs: Direct3D 11 by default (Vulkan with
backend = vulkan), display refresh switching to a multiple of 60 Hz in fullscreen (refresh_rate), and FreeSync / G-Sync support (vrr). Same game, same settings menu, samerrv.inias the other platforms. - Picture: 2D (HUD, menus, text, logos) keeps even pixels at every internal resolution; no stray lines on the title screen logos; new
sprite_filtersetting; mipmaps off by default; depth of field as the game intended at every internal resolution. - Widescreen: the HUD default is now
race(4:3 proportions pinned to the screen edges during a race); the intro renders full screen in 16:9. - Controllers: two players, first controller connected is player 1, the second is player 2; the keyboard plays player 1 only while no controller is player 1.
- Fix: VS mode no longer goes to a black screen.
- Steam Deck: internal resolution offers even values only (2x, 4x, 6x, 8x).

Windows warns "Windows protected your PC"? Fukami.exe is not code-signed yet, so SmartScreen warns about it as an unrecognised app. It does not mean anything was found. Before extracting, right-click the zip, Properties, tick Unblock, OK (or run Get-ChildItem -Recurse <folder> | Unblock-File on an extracted folder); if the warning still shows, click More info, then Run anyway. You can check the zip with Get-FileHash against SHA256SUMS. Details: user guide.
The builds contain the game's code translated to native code (generated from the author's own copy of the game). Download only from this page. Windows: unzip anywhere and run Fukami.exe (settings and saves go to %LOCALAPPDATA%\Fukami). macOS: unzip and right-click → Open the first time (not notarised). Steam Deck: extract and run ./install.sh in Desktop Mode.
What was verified
- Source: the three builds were made from one private source revision whose public export is byte-identical to this tag's tree.
- Windows: one 99 s run on a laptop (the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 Laptop GPU was the one in use, per the owner; the log does not name the adapter; Direct3D 11, windowed, 120 Hz display) from boot to the attract race: 59.8 starts/s on average and 60.0 in the race, no worker failures, 12 starts above 20.9 ms in the race, the longest 28.7 ms. A longer start-of-race pause (about 160 ms) occurs when the race loads.
- Steam Deck: four paced attract-race runs (windowed), two of this build and two of the previous test build, interleaved: same 60 fps, same slowest windows, no regression. This build at 2x and at 4x in fullscreen also held 60 fps in the attract race (the 4x run has 4 of 52 heavy stretches slightly over the frame budget).
- macOS: the app is signed (ad hoc) and a headless run reached the race loop (3,000+ starts) with the bundled Metal renderer.
Not verified / known limitations
- Windows on other hardware: only that one laptop (an NVIDIA RTX 5060 in use). Not tested here: AMD or other GPUs, Vulkan, fullscreen refresh switching and FreeSync/G-Sync with this exact build, controllers, or a race driven by a player. The Visual C++ Redistributable is not bundled.
- Steam Deck: the tarball was installed by hand and run windowed and fullscreen from the desktop session;
install.sh, Game Mode and a race driven by a player were not tested on this build. The first seconds of a race with many cars can still dip below 60 fps. - macOS: the app declares the macOS version it was built on (macOS 27.0) and will not open on older versions. Only the Mac it was built on has run it.
- Known issues listed in
CHANGELOG.md(RETIRE-screen menu drawn left for one frame in widescreen;car_depth_fixis experimental). - Only the USA release is supported. No in-game controller remapping.
Provenance
Source: tag v1.1.0. The runtimes were built from the private revision d07b46b; its public export (scripts/export_public.py) is identical to this tag's tree. Game code generated with scripts/fukami_generate.py from the author's ELF; reference hashes in config/rr5/.
