Cubby 0.1.13 (beta)

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 24 Oct 13:03

These builds are unsigned betas. Nothing is wrong with the download: code-signing certificates
cost money and this project does not have them yet, so your OS will warn you the first time.

Windows: download Cubby-Setup-x.y.z.exe and run it. If SmartScreen says "Windows protected your
PC", click More info, then Run anyway. It installs per user and needs no administrator rights.

macOS (experimental, untested): download Cubby-x.y.z-universal.dmg and drag Cubby to
Applications. The first time, right-click Cubby, choose Open, then Open again. On macOS 15 and
later, open it once, then go to System Settings, Privacy and Security, and click Open Anyway.

Full instructions, including the macOS permissions Cubby asks for, are in the README.

What's Changed

  • macOS: always install the key tap; warn when macOS refuses it by @Megh-P in #2

Cubby 0.1.9 (beta)

Delete closes the highlighted app. Hover an app in Cubby (or arrow to it) and press Delete; press it again (or Enter) to confirm. Esc cancels. Settings > Keys > "Ask before Delete closes an app" turns the prompt off.

Mac: the delete key quits the whole app (politely, so apps can still ask to save). Settings > Keys > "Delete quits the app" switches it to closing only the window. Mac support is experimental.

Windows users on 0.1.7 or later get this through auto-update.

Cubby 0.1.8 (beta)

@github-actions github-actions released this 08 Oct 04:53

What's new in 0.1.8

  • Ping cards no longer name the wrong conversation. When a chat app like Discord pinged you, the card under "Discord wants you" showed the conversation you had open, not the one that messaged you. Windows doesn't say which conversation it was, so the card now shows what Cubby does know: the unread count ("3 unread"), or "New message". Clicking it still takes you to the app.
  • On Windows, if you're on 0.1.7 this arrives as an automatic update.

These builds are unsigned betas. Nothing is wrong with the download: code-signing certificates
cost money and this project does not have them yet, so your OS will warn you the first time.

@github-actions github-actions released this 08 Oct 04:37

What's new in 0.1.7

  • Windows now updates itself. Cubby checks for a new release when it starts and every few hours, downloads it in the background, and asks whether to restart now or install the next time it quits. This is the first version with it, so if you're on 0.1.6 or older, install this one by hand once; after that, updates arrive on their own.
  • macOS still updates by hand (macOS blocks updating an unsigned app): download the new .dmg from this page when one comes out.

These builds are unsigned betas. Nothing is wrong with the download: code-signing certificates
cost money and this project does not have them yet, so your OS will warn you the first time.

New Contributors

Cubby 0.1.5 (beta)

@github-actions github-actions released this 08 Oct 02:59

What's new in 0.1.5

  • New icon, full size. Four isometric cubes (true 30° edges) on a navy tile that fills the whole square, so it no longer looks small next to other app icons. Drawn as a precise SVG, with a multi-size Windows icon and crisp tray icons at every display scaling. Inside Cubby, the logo is now the same size as the app icons beside it.
  • Side panels stay visible. The socials and music panels could slip underneath other windows after the screen had been off and vanish until Cubby restarted. Cubby now notices within a second and puts them back on top.
  • Notification counts update live even when the taskbar is set to auto-hide; before, they only refreshed when the taskbar slid up. A ping toast now fires only when a count goes up, not when you've read messages elsewhere.
  • Voice on/off toggle in the tray header (voice commands are still beta).

These builds are unsigned betas. Nothing is wrong with the download: code-signing certificates

  • Dragging feels anchored. When you drag an app or group in the tray, it stays exactly where you grabbed it, under the cursor, instead of trailing off to the bottom-right.

cost money and this project does not have them yet, so your OS will warn you the first time.

Cubby 0.1.1 (beta)

@github-actions github-actions released this 07 Oct 03:13

What's new in 0.1.1

  • The tray now reliably gets keyboard focus. Over apps with a classic menu bar, opening the tray with Alt+~ could leave focus on the app underneath, so Esc and typing went nowhere. Cubby now masks the lone Alt (or Win) release that triggered the app's menu bar, and checks it actually has focus after opening.

These builds are unsigned betas. Nothing is wrong with the download: code-signing certificates
cost money and this project does not have them yet, so your OS will warn you the first time.
