Boost is a large, peer-reviewed collection of portable C++ libraries that both fills gaps in the standard library and serves as a proving ground for features—many of which (like smart pointers, regex, and filesystem) later get adopted into the C++ standard itself.

Precompiled Boost 1.73.0 XCFramework for arm64 iOS devices and arm64/x86_64 iOS Simulator. Includes all headers, compiled-component inventories, CMake and pkg-config metadata.

Included compiled libraries

  • boost_chrono — Compiled date and time duration support.
  • boost_date_time — Compiled date/time library retained for build compatibility.
  • boost_filesystem — Portable filesystem operations; compiled filesystem_error coverage retained.
  • boost_graph — Compiled Graph algorithms.
  • boost_locale — Localization backends available without optional ICU packaging.
  • boost_random — Compiled random_device implementation.
  • boost_regex — Regular-expression engine.
  • boost_system — Error-code support required by several compiled libraries.
  • boost_thread — Portable threading primitives.
  • boost_context — Architecture-specific fcontext implementation carried forward from the validated configuration.
  • boost_nowide — New in 1.73; compiled UTF-8 standard-library adapters, with conversion and compiled fopen coverage in the iOS runtime suite.

All Boost headers are included. Header-only facilities remain available even
when their related compiled library is not part of the combined static binary.

Release features and exclusions

Boost 1.73.0 was released on April 28, 2020. This package carries forward the
nine baseline compiled libraries plus Boost.Context and Boost.Nowide, includes
the complete updated header tree, and uses C++17.

New in Boost 1.73.0

  • StaticString adds fixed-capacity strings with contiguous embedded
storage. Construction, append, capacity, and data access are smoke-tested.
  • Nowide adds UTF-8 standard-library APIs, primarily for Windows. Its new
compiled library is included. The iOS runtime suite covers portable UTF-8
conversion and calls its compiled fopen adapter on Simulator and device.

Relevant updates

  • Variant2's new hash support is smoke-tested.
  • Boost.Histogram fixes its C++17 span detection upstream, so the 1.72-specific
compatibility patch is no longer applied.
  • Boost.Context and header-only Boost.Coroutine2 retain their validated
    architecture configuration.
  • Boost.Fiber and deprecated compiled Boost.Coroutine remain excluded until
they receive dedicated device and Simulator runtime coverage.
  • The complete consolidated suite, including compiled Boost.Nowide, passed on
an arm64 iOS Simulator and physical arm64 iOS device.

See COMPONENTS.md for the complete compiled-library inventory. All Boost
headers are included even when a corresponding compiled library is omitted.
