Release list
E1003 waveform fallback test 3aa9750
Hardware test build for E1003 XKCD.
- Keeps the controller awake for five seconds when GC16 activity is not visible through LUTAFSR.
- Polls every 1 ms during the activation window, then every 10 ms.
- Retains the GC16 battery trace across deep sleep for battery-only testing.
Test procedure:
- Flash while USB-C is connected.
- Leave the device powered on, disconnect USB-C, and press Refresh.
- Wait for the refresh and sleep to finish.
- Reconnect USB-C without toggling the power switch, press Refresh, and capture the line beginning with
[panel] previous E1003 GC16 battery.
E1003 low-power refresh test db65fd5
Hardware test build for E1003 XKCD.
- Removes the extra INIT waveform and performs one GC16 update, matching Seeed's official ED103TC2 sequence.
- Waits for observed GC16 activation and completion before controller sleep.
- Logs battery voltage before, during, and after GC16, including minimum voltage and sag.
- Polls LUT status every 10 ms instead of every 1 ms to reduce host load during refresh.
Please test on battery below 50% and capture the serial line beginning with [panel] E1003 GC16 battery.
E1003 one-upload row-shift test (57e7a78)
Hardware test build for the E1003 row-shift correction in commit 57e7a78.
The previous build uploaded the 1.3 MB packed framebuffer twice. The second load left the IT8951 write pointer offset, circularly shifting every row while leaving glyphs upright. This build uses INIT clear → upload target once → GC16.
- SD OTA: rename
firmware-xkcd-e1003-test-57e7a78-ota.binto/update.binon the SD card, then wake the device. - USB: flash
firmware-xkcd-e1003-test-57e7a78-full.binat offset0x0.
The firmware identifies itself as test-57e7a78. This prerelease does not replace v2.1.0 in the web flasher.
v2.1.0 — Sticky Fiddle and E1003 display stability
Sticky Fiddle
- Adds Sticky Fiddle firmware for E1005 with drawing, puzzle, and relaxation activities.
- Improves touch responsiveness by refreshing discrete actions immediately while keeping gesture rendering efficient.
- Expands drawing histories to 10,000 PSRAM-backed entries and starts every reboot with fresh activity state.
- Raises artificial activity limits that no longer serve a practical purpose.
E1003 display stability
- Uses measured ambient temperature for E1003 grayscale waveform selection.
- Adds a guarded full-frame grayscale refresh path shared by XKCD, Weather, and Photo.
- Waits for the IT8951 waveform engine to become active and then fully idle before sleeping the controller, preventing incomplete dark or inverted frames.
- Adds refresh watchdog and timing diagnostics for field troubleshooting.
Viewer interface and maintenance
- Adds a repository QR code to the Wi-Fi connection splash for XKCD, Weather, and Photo on every supported model.
- Adds a GitHub link to viewer web-portal headers.
- Repairs Sticky Fiddle release builds by installing the required IntelHex dependency.
Installation

Superseded E1003 test (b916082)
Superseded by test build 57e7a78.
Uploading the packed framebuffer twice circularly shifted each row. The replacement clears first and uploads the target once.
Superseded E1003 test (ae24571)
Superseded by test build 5862014.
The earlier build stopped after INIT because this controller firmware clears the panel without asserting LUTAFSR.
Superseded E1003 test (5862014)
Superseded by test build b916082.
INIT clears the IT8951 image buffer on this controller firmware, so the target frame must be uploaded again before GC16.
v2.0.1 — Correct firmware version reporting
Highlights
- Corrects on-device firmware version reporting across all applications. Release builds now embed the Git tag automatically and verify it before publishing.
- Simplifies the Sticky Arcade low-battery screen by removing redundant charging prompts.
- Lowers Sticky Arcade's automatic recharge/deep-sleep cutoff from 10% to 5%.
The v2.0.0 firmware functionality was current, but its displayed version remained at 1.9.1. v2.0.1 reports the installed version correctly.
Installation
Flash the appropriate application and board from the reTerminal E100X web flasher or download the matching release asset below.
v2.0.0 — Sticky Arcade
Sticky Arcade
- Rebranded the Games firmware as Sticky Arcade, including launcher, sleep, low-battery, release, and web-flasher surfaces.
- Added Klondike, Mahjong Solitaire, Falling Blocks, Connect Four, and Word Search, bringing the launcher to seventeen games plus EPUB Reader.
- Added one-player AI and two-player modes where appropriate, localized help, launcher previews, and deep-sleep persistence for the new games.
- Replaced play-count ranking with a fixed popularity-based order while keeping EPUB Reader on the first launcher page.
EPUB Reader

- Kept optimized GFX button fonts for English while using a consistent UTF-8 font face for the other languages.
Games improvements
- Expanded Crossword from 12 to 100 deterministic puzzles and corrected standard clue numbering.
- Added physical UP/DOWN navigation between game selector pages; UP returns to the selector during a game.
- Ranked games from most played to least played using checksummed RTC-backed counters.
- Refined OK-button behavior: release before 2 seconds enters deep sleep, 2–5 seconds opens language selection, and longer holds do nothing.
- Removed the OK-button screenshot gesture.
Crossword clues and answers remain in English.
