Release list
v0.3.0
iperf3-lib 0.3.0
This release expands iperf3-lib into a programmable network benchmarking and analysis library while keeping native libiperf responsible for traffic generation and measurement.
Highlights
- Standard-library dataclasses replace Pydantic, with explicit validation.
- Directional results, preserved native JSON, and portable versioned artifacts.
- Broader client/server controls, including address and interface binding, transport tuning, count limits, authentication, event callbacks, and explicit execution timeouts.
- Throughput analysis, repeated trials, baseline assessments, and finite parameter sweeps.
- Prometheus snapshot metrics, atomic textfiles, and Grafana integration examples.
Upgrading
Review the 0.2.0 migration guide: Pydantic methods are replaced, configuration validation is stricter, and missing measurements remain distinct from zero.
Install the Python package and a compatible native libiperf library using the getting-started guide. Python 3.12–3.14 and libiperf 3.19.1/3.21 are tested on Linux. For authenticated benchmarks, use libiperf 3.21; the tested 3.19.1/OpenSSL combination has an upstream authentication failure.
See the API documentation, native-option inventory, and execution limits.
