  • Marketplace listing: install instructions, search keywords, banner color, questions go to GitHub issues
  • README: GraphViz isn't bundled, PlantUML uses its built-in layout without it

2.19.2

  • Remove PDF from the export formats of the local render: the bundled MIT build of PlantUML can't export PDF. PDF export with a PlantUML server still works

First release of PlantUML Next, a fork of jebbs' PlantUML extension, based on its 2.18.1.

Preview performance:

  • Smooth zoom on large diagrams: while zooming, the diagram is only scaled, and it's redrawn once the zoom settles
  • SVG is shown inline, so only the visible part of a large diagram is painted, which makes panning a zoomed diagram smooth
  • The preview is updated in place instead of reloading the page, keeping zoom and scroll position
  • PlantUML keeps running while the preview is open, which makes updates several times faster. It stops when the preview is closed. Setting: plantuml.previewKeepAlive
  • Links come from the SVG itself, so PlantUML runs once per page instead of twice

Source navigation:

  • Cmd+click (macOS) or Ctrl+click an element in the preview to select its source in the editor
  • The element defined at the editor cursor is highlighted in the preview
  • Works for elements PlantUML marks with their source line: classes, components, states, use cases, notes, packages, and since PlantUML 1.2026.9 participants and messages of sequence diagrams

Other:

  • Keep the zoom of each page when switching pages, update link areas when the diagram changes
  • Bundle the MIT licensed build of PlantUML, see the README for what it leaves out
  • The extension id is dark-dmake.plantuml-next; settings and commands keep the plantuml. names, so existing settings work
